JTC, there's a lot of things different between British and Australian society.
They've tried segregating fans in the new soccer comp here and its actually made things worse, mind you there does seem to be a different attitude between soccer fans and football fans, I hope Austrlian Rules Football fans never get that soccer sort of mentality.

Having just waded trough some intelligent and not so intelligent debate on the topic, I sincerely hope that this weekend, a couple of blokes standing next to a bar don't lose their cool, have a quick punch up & unwittingly involve a couple of mates who instinctively feel they need to fly the flag.

I'm afraid if this occurs we may have to completely shut down the SANFL competiton as it will have been proven to be a far too dangerous environment for anyone to be exposed to.

At least we can then spend some more time at our local front bar where we can brawl to our hearts content without any fear of causing mass hysteria...

So Mark what chant did you use prior to say, the year 2000 when your club won stuff all from it's inception and from memory couldn't even win a finals game the odd year it used to actually scrape in pre-Adelaide Crow's days in a vastly different SANFL???

It seems that whilst Centrals are the modern day powerhouse and have a fantastic record especially since 2000 - it seems along with that some of your supporters memories seem to have sections erased but I'm sure your just getting back with all the crap Norwood supporters and others dished out when Centrals were crap?

We all have feral supporters, we have the pram lady who is the queen of abuse since she retire from pig scaring in the bush.

Centrals because of their large supporter base would have the most feral supporters but only a few that make it bad for all, i do believe from the games i witness with westies that norwood have some treal big mouth protagonists that like to go on the ovals at 1/4 & 3/4 time at other venues and like to throw abuse at other sides supporters.

CD & NWD, banned from night games for 18 months, will then go back on a trial basis and it either of you stuff up again well thats it NO MORE NIGHT GAMES, at day gamesive never seen a problem with CD's supporters but have witnessed this with NWD supporters.

I dare not go to eliz at night

I did make that point at the end and fair enough too. I'd be an arrogant winner too (have been in the past some would argue presently  ) but for the future, if only North could pull their collective fingers out!

And whilst you are explaining to DW what you mean by "clean their act up", maybe you could elaborate and the refernce to "a English soccer game" too.

By the way corrected you grammer in the quotes. for your future info. there means in that place as 'over there', whilst their means owned or belonging to them as their name.

Sweeping uniformed statement

You'd make a great teacher.

I know. I meant to delete that whole paragraph as it was unnecessary. Apologies Schimma for being a smart arse
Just a bit p1ssed in more ways than one, about the reference to English soccer, when there hasn't been that kind of trouble at a match for so long.

Would have to bow to your greater knowledge on those points Wedgie, and can only speak on what a difference segregation has made here.

Tell me, are these incidents becoming more frequent, as it would appear so from the frequency they get mentioned on here. It would certainly seem that better, more professional security would help the situation and surely some kind of police presence at the hot spots would help.

A greater understanding of what sparks the trouble would help determine the solution. If alcohol is usually found to be at the source then action could be focused there, likewise, it incidents flare up because one supporter is bagging the other team etc, this for calls for a different solution, and would suggest segregation would reduce the level of flare (no pun intended) ups.

As for CDFC always being at the heart of any trouble, I used to live not too far away in Salisbury North, and am aware of the reputation Elizabeth as an area had. It is unfair to generalise about a whole district, team or set of supporters and I personally never had any problems watching CD play in Elizabeth. Having said that they did have a large pom contingent and IIRC the traditional English Soccer chanting was more apparent there than any other ground I went to.

Like I say that was a good while ago, so can't speak for them now.

Looks like it's already happening Wedgie.

Went to Hindmarsh last night to watch Aust v Iran. Fights broke out in the grandstand, police chased em all and threw them out and Weslo stood and watched. Why are Welso even there???

After the fights stopped all the bars were shut.

P.S. This pommy is still getting used to supporting the aussies in soccer
