So he wore number 39.Geez he looked big .Was a bit out of depth in the backline and did a couple of silly things up forward .But he was just ok.

Eagles 6.4 10.6 13.10 17.12 (114)
Glenelg 2.1 4.8 7.12 13.15 (93)

Another strong start to the match, three goals to Schwarze in the 1st quarter, that was the problematic period of the match over. In the next two quarters, it was fairly even, but it was where Glenelg lost the match in both quarters. At one stage were on 6.12 which meant they had kicked 4.11 after quarter time, until just before three quarter time. Both sides had their moments in the match, Glenelg fighting it out to the end, replying twice to Eagles goals straight away.

But the goal that put it out of reach was the goal of the day, Salter knocking the ball away from Rudolph near the goal post, then kicking the ball out of the air as it was falling to the ground.

whatabout peter fiacchi's brain freeze on the 1/4 time siren he had the kicked after the siren from a set shot & played on & this is why his point wasn't allowed

now in the context of the game it didn't matter but what if it did ?

I couldn't get there till half time today. Glenelg looked the better team in the 2nd half, but the match was already won.

How did those guys coming back from injury in the reserves go? Did they all play and get through the game?

Good to see Schwarze have a good game. He could be pretty hard to match up on, especially if Salter and Grocke can provide targets as well. Just needs to improve his kicking for goal. Do you have the goal-kickers for today Spelly?

I wouldn't tend to place the blame on one incident during the match, if so, then you probably don't deserve to win - you should have done more than that to ensure the win.

Aerie, I didn't get there until after the Reserves match.

mickyj, Schwarze kicked 5, Salter 3, Cicolella 2 and Symmons 2 were the main goalscorers. Treeby, Powell, Duncan and Fitzgerald were the other goalscorers (I missed one). I thought Jarrad's first half was outstanding.

And it was you that yelled that out to the field umpire as well !
I went out on the field during the break and had 3 shots for goal from the same position
And I scored 3 goals
So how doesa league footballer have a brain fade and play on on a set shot
after the siren had gone 20 seconds earler ?

Ive heard it in the crowd today, and by the press about Glenelgs poor goal shooting
cost them the game
GL kicked 13-15
I thought that GL kicked accurately today for goal

Thanks for the mention Spell check but I think Aerie asked the question.I was at the ground from the start of the seconds until the end of the league game.

MMM First quarter stuff ups Fiacchi's should not rate compared to Glenelgs stuff ups in the Eagles forward lines .In fact one of Schwarze's first quarter goals was the result of an errant glenelg handball in the backline.
And IMHO the first quarter set up the eagles win mind you a certain umpire paying so many frees to glenelg almost upset the whole game. And lets just say this about umpires if your going to pay holding the ball could all three umpires agree on the rule .With 2 umpires always calling play on and a third umpire paying holding the ball for just about anything .And before I am howled down I was told at the ground that the free count was 21 to glenelg 4 to the EAGLES if I am wrong I'm sorry.
After the first quarter it was a very entertaining seesawing game with both teams stuffing up and letting the other team in .
Well done Eagles on the great win.
Oh and the players in the two's IMHO most need more games . Sam fairclough looked ok he may have fought his way back in .

So it was, sorry Aerie. And thanks bayman, Treeby was the goal I missed.

I have thought that for a while, there should be only 2 Field umpires out there and not three as the interpretations vary a bit for different situations between umpires. Having two would accentuate this less.

yeah the one incident point is fair enough but when it is at the end of a quarter like this it can in the sense of the scoreboard as it is the final kick/score of that term & whatever happens to the kick the ball goes back to the umpires for the start of the next term & that is why it can make a difference

As it turned out, he only scored a behind. I can see what you are saying, but I am not the person to still place a potential/eventual loss on one thing.

I didn't see the Fiacchi incident, but was told about it when I got to the game. I've often wondered about it... Fiacchi naturally runs around on his left when he has a shot on goal, but obviously can't if it is after the siren. However, the Westies player who had kicked a goal after the final siren at Thebby a fortnight ago did exactly the same thing. He ran around on his right foot and technically should have been called to play on and therefore no goal, but the umpire didn't pick up on it.

Another grey area of the game which really shouldn't be. FWIW, I think the umpire got it right today, but stuffed up at Thebby a fortnight ago.

AERIE the ump could not miss it today because BAYMAN was screaming it out
from the boundary line, the ump heard it, BUT I think he also knew what he was doing

Still thought GL shooting for goal was accurate enough today [13-15]
