No matter what your club colours were on Saturday it was a pleasure to be part of SA Footy history...the game was played with absolute intensity, speed and ferocity. The crowd atmosphere was electric and the banter between passionate supporters was entertaining, and during the quarter time breaks the sea of kids having a kick and a catch was priceless. It would be fair to say that the SANFL package has got it right without having to pay a premium for real family entertainment at a time when our purse strings are getting belted.
On the other hand if you prefer the "ring a ring a rosy" game in a stadium where the "banter and cheering" is mostly one way traffic , and you pay through the nose ....then so be it.
Give me "real local footy" anyday!

I think someone should point out how well things are going in little old SA and quote the weekends game.

David Parkin also said that VFL was best comp behind the AFL on his Thurs night Foxtel show how wrong he is.

If you have access to SL.org try these apples:

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Just finished watching the game for the fifth time...sheesh you have to be impressed with the game Sturt played given so many of their first choice selections were out...

Having said that, I'm sure the Sturt fans would like to see how they would go against a fellow top side, without the reliance on their AFL-listed players. Proof is in the pudding that the Double Blues have plenty of depth to cover the loss of ANY player in their squad.

I was a bit disappointed with Whiteman's attempts to get in the faces of the Bays players throughout the second half, when the Double Blues were predominantly in front...I reakon he might want to wait until the final siren next time, and with his side in front, before he does some of those things again...sent the message to me that he thought the Blues were home and wanted to give the Bays players a bit of stick.

Coad is a sensational player...if he can get his hands on the footy more often, he poses a dangerous prospect for any opposition.

You must have enjoyed watching this game as a neutral supporter SP. What did you think of your beloved red legs on the weekend?

i think you'll find whiteman does that ten goals up ten goals down, and it wasnt every bays player just 1 imparticular who was diving for free kicks all day.

I didn't suggest he did it to every Bays player. There was a period of about 15-20 minutes where he was seen running up to blokes to rough them up a bit. Call it as you see it I suppose. It was very unlike Whiteman and it surprised me somewhat.
