Sound like Glenelg needs sturts forward coach to give them some kicking lessons.

Duldig had a reputation of being a suspect kick for goal not so long ago
Today this happened ?
Duldig 7-0 in the seconds
Grima 0-4 in the league

Also did Grima kick a goal in this years 3 finals ?

i don't think grima did, i think it is confidence with him because i'm sure he kicked close to a ton for geelong before coming across the border

2 words for the Bays supporters "STRAIGHT SETS."

It was good to get the monkey off the back with a good win. Glenelg should have had the game close to being sewn up by quarter time with the score 2.3 to 0.0 and dominating the game except where it counted, the scoreboard. Sturt played pressure football and was prepared to tackle harder in the 2nd quarter and got a lead at half time. Grima, ruwuldt missed some easy chances in the 2nd but the blues played well. Very happy with the game from Trengove today and being a Melbourne supporter, he will look good in the demons colours. The mark he took nea the end was "Leo Barry" style from the 2005 Grand Final.

So many finals this year where the team that "should've" won hasn't. Glenelg seemed to control play for most of the last quarter. Probably most of the game. Sturt were cleaner thanks to the likes of Trengove, Sheedy, Jaensch and Coad. Nelson was a huge plus for them and will be important against the Dogs tough bodies. Herring and Johncock were well held, but Sturt still managed to find enough goals.

Call it what you like, but Glenelg's inability to even kick the ball cleanly, let alone put it through the goals, from set shots or running into an open goal was shocking. I think the fact Glenelg made it to the GF last year and were out for redemption this year will make this loss even harder to swallow. Such a waste.

It will be interesting to see where to now for Glenelg. You'd expect them to bounce back with Mickan at the helm, but it's not easy.

Sturt appear to be running on almost empty, but it will be running that will give them a chance against Central. Can they continue to get that one extra at the contest that they are so good at to be able to break away and deliver forward. Generally the Dogs won't let that happen.

Always a great week leading up to a Grand Final and the only thing better than that air of expectation is being in front when the final siren blows to secure the premiership. Good luck to Sturt and Central and commiserations to the Bays. The contests this finals series have been awesome to watch.

Firstly a genuine comiserations to Glenelg supporters. Your club has stood up through this season and two Finals games going down by less than a kick is not choking at all but shattering for sure. The Glenelg Football Club has a lot to be proud of the last 2 years and will no doubt be up there again with Mark Mickan leading them again...they will learn from this pain and continue to be a great club.
Credit to Sturt they hung in there fought hard and a great effort for Luke Norman in his first year at the Senior helm.
Our boys will be refreshed but must play 4 solid quarters of footy this week or else we could pay heavily for it but in saying that I feel we can do it but it will be no walkover at all. If this finals series is anything to go by it'll be a cracking GF.
GO YOU DOGGIES.

Is this quote from 2008 or 2009 ? Can be applied to both and some might say that they haven't learnt from last years G.F loss. They have a valid point !

Lucky bloke. I've tried every possible flight on every possible airline coming in via every city and I'm still buggered...

As I said during the 2nd 1/4 on the match thread - big echoes of the AFL granny. One team controlling a lot of the match but not kicking straight. Result was pretty much the same at siren time too.
My child is growing up without SANFL footy. It gives me the double blues.

Feel for you, Bays fans, there's no nice way of going out in straight sets. 1979 is still seared into my memory after thirty years, and the margins then were 25 and 16 points if I remember rightly. To lose both by less than a goal...no one deserves that. Except Port.

Like you 'ptr' I've been a long time 'watcher' but poor poster - but at least I have the respect of holding off on the sledges.

Your wrong! -

SANFL footy is about wearing your team glasses and being blinded by their passions, their faults and their failings - no matter what the colour of the glasses you are wearing.

I dont know ??? - to come in this forum ranting and raving and displaying blind passion is alright if its done over time, but to jump in for 9 times in total of 30 after 3 years in one night is a bit rich.

Rant Over!

Hmm, there seems to be a bit of debate as to whether Glenelg should be proud or p*ssed off. I think it should be a bit of both. Not making the finals is a failure. Being knocked out of the finals is a failure. Footy is a tough, uncompromising game where 1/9th of the teams succeed. Doesn't mean there will be any season where you can't take positives and be proud of efforts, and plenty of players will have improved over the course of the season from the 7 eliminated clubs. But you can never accept anything less than a premiership as success. Perhaps you can say you're on the "path to success" but the Glenelg football club has to be honest with itself and realise they were close......but failed. They need to instead of thinking they were close and another year they might get lucky think of where they can improve. Not now in the emotion of it all, but over the coming weeks. Watch the GF and know what you want to do, figure out how to do it and then work hader than ever to get there.
