Life FM estimated possibly 3,000 plus at Noarlunga. A real shame that we'll never know the real figure. Everyone who attended who has expressed a view claims something in excess of 2000 with most suggesting about 2,500.
For a club like South, who have historically low crowd figures at their home ground, a big crowd generates added interest and potentially attracts more to the bandwagon. But to publish a figure which is roughly half of those that were there, sends a negative message to those still in the woodwork; something along the lines of, even if we're 3rd playing 2nd just before finals, we're still only worth about 1,200.
Have I drawn a long bow in saying that? I have long memories of when Sturt resurged in the late nineties, there was a teal feeling of supporters getting hooked by the hype that went along with winning games. I really think there's a risk of losing some of that by publishing false and crappy crowd figures.

The gate ticket man was having problems at Prospect on Sunday around 11.00.
The SANFL appear to have another problem.

Interesting thanks Phil.
South won 10 straight at home and their attendances were down.
Club must be pulling their hair out.
Good luck to the panthers for the finals.

I think the official South v Sturt figure of under 1300 was disputed by most observors who were there .... but can only go off the official figure.

Average of 2.3k per game. Awful. RIP SANFL in its current state. :(
When was the last time they were that low Phil?
I'm guessing before World War 1?

The Alberton stat is also a shocker.
No SANFL games should be programmed there,

2654 > 2649. Either the figures are incorrect or Sturt should be #1 on total crowds.

Incredible.
Sturt have had their most kick ass year since we last made the grand final, this is after almost taking the spoon last season. Yet our crowds are down overall, and up at home games by only 15 spectators per game.
It looks to me as though Sturt no longer have a bandwagon to call on in the good times. We actually had more supporters turn up last year when we were three times more shit than we are now.
Just out of interest though, by all reports the Sturt/South crowd at Noarlunga this year was undercounted to the tune of about 1000. Factor that in over 18 matches and Sturt's average attendances would be about 2,710, which would still leave us about 90 spectators adrift of last year's all time low.
If Sturt no longer have a band wagon, then the times they are certainly a-changing.
The ass has already fallen out of Port's crowds. The other two giants of old, Norwood and Glenelg are a bit dormant, and to be honest it is quite astonishing to see two clubs with such poor results through out the year still be in the top three crowd pullers.
Very, very worrying times. Pre-reserves there was a definite yoyo pattern, depending on who was competing. Since their inception we have been breaking record low after record low.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Well done to the Blues in 2016 so far, including membership probably no 1 as well.
Norwood have slipped this year.
What a shame Sturt have so much work and cost just to hold a home game.
Unley has good viewing and is a pleasant footy spectacle game day.

Had to giggle and cringe when I saw Devonport City and Bentleigh had a crowd of 3,168 in the FFA cup.
It shows how far backwards the SANFL is going since the introduction of AFL reserves sides.

IIRC the average crowd in 2012 was around 3,400, within 4 years we have lost over 1,000 per game.

But I guess as we are getting social media hits all is OK....
