SIREN!!!

Jimmy,

As a Port (AFL) supporter, i'm interested to know how Chaplin went today. I believe you listened to the game on the radio, were the comments about his game positive? And also Thomson?

I'm sure Double Blues supporters would be hoping both players only played average games so they'll be playing for Sturt for a bit longer yet.

Thanks for that Stampy. I'll be interested to hear the reports of this game from those that went. It could be the Bays were just a little underdone playing in their first game of the year, whereas we did have a nice warm up hit out with Westies to iron out our game a bit. Glenelg will hit back from this, I still say your club is in good hands with Mickan.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Not sure, as I only heard the final minutes, but the commentators gave best afield to Darling for Sturt.

i would be interested in the thoughts of a few bays fans as to how the teams played today....

the bays had it all early, then it was a bit of a wrestle then basically catch up for glenelg as sturt slowly and excruciatingly pulled away.

At quarter time my computer got hijacked by a four year old who wanted to play Nikolodian games :x :x :x

Up until then in Life FM I was hearing a lot of Glenelg names and indication we were working hard and getting first possession of teh pill. Last three quaters (12 to six the opposite has occurred. Sturt as a unit have obviously worked harder than us.

Damn disappointing.

I'm not sure how to tkae this loss, the positive perspective is that first game we were rusty and with teh new players still not a cohesive unit and once we work better as a group the performance will naturally improve.

The flip side of that is that we have dropped off the intensity after 1/4 time and that is inexcusable, don't mind losing to more skillfull teams but I will not accept being beaten in effort as that is a mental thing......

So hopefully that is addressed next week.

Before I get jumped on by Sturt fans my last comment I will not accept being beaten in effort as that is a mental thing is not a reference to this game and sturt being less skillful than us just a general observation
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Bloody embarrasing listening to Mouse talk up Duldig as being "one of the best if not the best" forward in the league and talking up Murphy when we end up putting in an effort like that.

I know it is good to hear current players and they add to the special comments" on the radio but maybe they could be told to tone it down a bit when talking about their players....

I disagree, chappy was great. When we were getting beaten up in defence he was the one who kept his cool and got our run out of defence going.
When we started to get on top in the 2nd quarter he was the first to run a long way to congratulate and rev up the boys.

ST 17-8
GL 13-6

1ST qtr GL got one of the biggest rudes ive ever seen from the umpires
For the rest of the game ST gradually got the decisions.
ST too hard, too ferousious and deserved the win
ST made elimentary mistakes in the first half, but improved 2nd half
GL lost intensity as the game wore on.

TURNING POINT

ST 4-3
GL 7-5

GL got a freebie deep in defence
The freebie was reserved and given to ST which = a goal
ST got the reversal and this seemed to turn the game.
DID ANYONE SEE WHY ?????????????????????????????????

ST 4-3
GL 2-2
In the 2nd qtr
GL asleep in the 2nd qtr AGAIN just like last year

ST look like a poor mans Centrals with thier newish style of footy today[less hanball, much better]

The highlight of the game was the absolute speccky Luke BUTTON took + kicked a goal in the last qtr
BUTTON for the 2nd week in a row showed what a great mark he is

The lowlight of the game was without a doubt the umpiring
they umpire like an amatuer league game when sides threaten to kill each other
Too soft
I agree with the new rules in theory but not in practibility
Too many SOFT goals
30 goals today and seemed like half were a result of softcock freebies.

ST deserved the win
GL will improve

Thank the AFL for that.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

I don't think it was reversed, looked like the ump signalled the wrong way and corrected himself.
Don't know what the free was for though, they seemed to pay cheap in the back and holding the ball in the 1st half.
