Sturt are very likely to make the finals but they aren't there yet .... the old cliche about 'taking it one week at a time' is still good advice.

I am sure the supporters don't want the players planning the honeymoon after only having 2 dates if you know what I mean .... don't want to see things end in tears
In between signatures .....

I hope the dogs come to play next week. I'm looking forward to finding out exactly where we are at against the Benchmark of the competition....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

GO THE BAYS!

not quite back to the woodwork for sturt fans yet, its good to see we are beating quality teams (with the exception of the broadrectumers)

as for centrals, well... we better be switched on or we will be severely bruised

I was worried about this game, and with good reason so it turns out. Pretty frustrating this being the only Saturday in ages where I didn't have any work to do during most of the game, and I couldn't even listen to a broadcast! Thanks to Jimmy's Dad and Davo who kept us all updated on Doubleblue.org. I got excited a couple of times there when we got to within 7 points, particularly in the final quarter. But to the Bays credit they kicked away from us. That's the first time we have lost this year after being within striking distance in the final quarter, and it is usually the Blues that runs games out the better. Glenelg must be congratulated for the way they are coming together; 4 weeks without a loss and some big results there.
Stampy, if you saw this result coming from as far away as last Monday, then congratulations to you too, but IMHO I thought we would come away with the points as long as we played 4 quarters of committed footy. It didn't turn out that way. Good luck to you and your team for the rest of the year, it sounds as though you'll be involved deep into this year.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

cheers theri, we all know that your seasons not over, we would love to be 8-4 but only have ourselves to blame for our slow start to the year, however we are coming and next week against the doggies will be interesting sturt had to have a let down sooner or later and i thought today might be the day and so it proved, good luck for the rest of the year like with us last year when we exceeded above expectations (predicted spooners) you guys are playing great footy

In hindsight our performace up at Elizabeth is one of the best performances against the Dogs this year....Im not crapping on here but I seriously believe our midfield when working as it is now is equal to the best in the comp, going to be a cracker next Sundie, could well be the biggest crowd at the Bay for a long time...

Sturt was weak. Really weak. Feast is a hack and Chambers got pants-down spanked.

But seriously folks:

I missed the first 10 minutes. Walked in to see the score 2.4 to zip, and thought "here we go".

Glenelg to its credit took the ascendancy when Sturt relaxed halfway through the first and never looked back. Did they kick 10 unanswered goals from the middle of the first to half time? Maybe it was 10 from 11.

Apart from the big lapse in the second quarter I didn't think Sturt played that badly. Sturt came back at the Bays twice, and had distinct periods where they dominated. Their only real sin was taking the foot off too early. Full marks to the Bays for taking control and never handing the game back.

Sam Rudolph gets BOG for mine. Chambers is a class act, one does not become the leading goalkicker without talent. To be on top of this guy all day, to the point where he is put wholly off his game, speaks volumes about Sammy's ability.

SLSP great up forwards. Cranny superb in ruck. Mitchell worked well around the ground, and 7-goal Richard Douglas was superb.

Good to recieve humble congratulations from zipzap, purch and co. Look forward to seeing you lads on Snout's Hill later in the season.

And I did notice the flamboyant SturtPeter talking with a few of the Snouts after the match. Thumbs up to you fella.

Oh, and Feast is a hack. Was a good ruckman once, but is now well past it. Macgowan ought to consign him to the forward lines where he can still take a strong mark and have some influence.

definitely a reality check.

very disappointed as we really should have won this game.

still, id rather be in sturt shoes....you know, no dogs next week  ;)

we will regroup from this.

8 and 4 is better than watever but we better come out to play in 2 weeks to get back on track.

time will tell.

congrats bays. too good on the day.

Psuedo, Yes ,it was 10 out of 11 goals at one stage. I remember looking at the scoreboard & realised that was the case & hoping we could claw our way back.
well, we did fight back a few times ( which is more than we could do last season! ) but to the Tigers credit, they had our measure every time. An entertaining game all the same.
I think both these teams are on the way up over the next couple of seasons.
