I think the rule is harsh, but why have it in place if you're not going to enforce it.

Im sure if Macca was close to a cut off mark he would have enough sense to stay clear of trouble.
Also he usually belted blokes bigger than himself who were facing him.
Parry only picks off the midgets from behind when the ball is at the other end ;)

SANFL statement makes sense with when the rule came in in 2012 he was already at the limit so any suspension meant deregistration. On his last chance. Good call IMO

Great news for the Eagles and Craig Parry being re-instated. Good decision, common sense decision. End of story.

Just like Macca had the good sense to not get suspended before Grand Finals.

Just like a little redheaded Pecker captain?
Just like Macca had the good sense to not get suspended before Grand Finals.

No fester. Colville wasn't suspended before a Grand Final.

SANFL Statement didn't mention that

So given the AFL gets 32 games and our tribunal is exactly the same with video cameras at all games etc. Should the SANFL follow suit and change?

Surely this deregistration is brought in to stop the thugs and genuine violent people in society from creating havoc in amateurs/country leagues where there is less control and less publicity.

Why should we do things exactly like the AFL?
Next you will want subs and the game to be umpired the same
And you Eagles fans can defend him all you like but Parry IS a thug, some of his reports have been for dispicable acts

16 year old Chris Ladhams was hardly Macca's size when he was belted by Macca 50 metres off the ball. Just one of the 23 times Macca was reported.

Parry = No Brain
Eagles without Parry = No Hope
Eagles with Parry = Possible Grand Final (they would need the Double Chance, though)

Completely gob smacked by this decision.

Did Parry not already know he was on his last chance? Why then does the SANFL give him another? The policy was adopted last year, not last week!

What this now does is give every player in the state (in which the league has adopted the policy) an easy out based on this case. It was included to get rid of serial offenders, and then the first SANFL player who crosses the line has the line moved. It makes those players already de registered hope based on this case, and I can see them lining up with an anger management form under one arm and a tribunal form under the other.

I have nothing against Parry nor WWTFC, just the basis of the decision and the implication on other leagues with de registered players - they will all front the same appeal board - that's what the policy says. I wonder if they will be treated differently because they don't play SANFL??
