chad jones is a very good vfl/wafl player but couldnt quite manage the step up into the AFL, quite injury prone too. would be a gun in the sanfl, i say atleast a 60 goal forward for port if the sign him, would dare say the influence of perry and perkins both kangaroos teamates with chad will be in his ear

Yep your right the Roo connections is quite strong at Port, I think Jones was at the Roos when Jezza was there also....IMO injuries cost him a long AFL career, defiantely had the ability

Can't blame the recruiting family at Glenelg for extending their radius!

Read in today's paper that about 4 other AFL are showing some interest in Power discard Fabian Deluca. THey are all Melbourne based clubs, which would suit the Victorian native, but I did also read with interest that if he doesn't get redrafted he may consider staying in the SANFL with Sturt. Although he needs to improve his mental side of the game and probably his around the ground work, Fabian would be handy full time for the Double Blues with Angus Kurtze, especially if Feasty retires.

I also read with interest that newly appointed North coach and former development manager at the Power, Daniel Healy sugested that if Fabian stayed in Adelaide, Heals would probably make a play for him because of the relationaship they had at Port and the fact that North, with O'Hara gone for all of 2009, desperatley need a quality ruckman.

Speaking of, I also heard that St. Kilda made a few delistings today and that ruckman Michael Rix was one of them. He may get some interest from SANFL clubs, as will fellow delisted Saints Matthew Ferguson, Shane Birss and Charlie Gardiner, who some would consider unlucky to be delisted. Will certainly be interesting to see how many former AFL players ake their way into the SANFL in 2009. I'd suggest we might possibly see up to half a dozen, maybe more, especially if some delisted SA natives decide to return home to their SANFL clubs.

On the VFL site they were saying up to 12 former AFL players would be lining up in the VFL.
I am interested to see who goes where .

Further from my earlier comments regarding Fabian Deluca...

Channel 9 news mentioned tonight he has been invited to train with Richmond, possibly offering him an AFL lifeline and preventing the Double Blues or North Adelaide hving his services in 2009.

Port have apparently picked up Jordan Barham, former Power rookie in 2002 who played the whole year in Centrals reserves that year kicking 7 in the GF and 70 or so goals for the year. Then spent time on a rookie list in Victoria (Collingwood i think) and played in teh VFL for a few years. Is 23, 193cm. More of an agile mid-sized forward as opposed to a KPP.

Jordan played with Weribee in the VFL back in 2007, reckon he had a break in 08 and played country footy...

Was a good player with pretty good hands and despite having a good goal kicking record, had an awkward kicking action...

Actually reminds me of Nick Gill in some ways. Very enigmatic with his good very good and his bad very bad, just like Gilly...

If true, a good pick up for the Maggies, will need some goal kicking power with Hargraves (and possibly Waterhouse ?) retiring...

would be a handy pick-up i remember him from 2002 and didn't get a league game but was then unlucky to miss the league Grand Final when they picked an out of form Luke Cowan to replace the injured Schell.

Has plenty and plenty of talent but struggled to settle into life in SA back then. His personality was also an issue back then but im sure his matured alot since.

My tip if fit and plays every game will be between a 40-50 goal season from him (in the league that is)

Yeah played at his home town Gisbourne this year and won their BnF, kicking 75 goals.

Melbourne delistee Isaac Weetra has returned home and signed with the Magpies as well.
