Can anyone answer this? Am keen to know but too lazy to trawl through the net and work out out!

Should have been announced as preferred telecast partner of crows and port power reserves, games not preferred telecast partner of SANFL games

Might try doing some averages and comparisons over the weekend, although there are a few games from both this and last year I'm unable to find crowds for. See how I go, but all good if PhilH or someone else beats me to it though. :)

Crowds this week in the SANFL:

Central v West 1705

Eagles v Norwood 2288 (Blockbuster game with huge finals implications?)

North v Power 2340 (used to get 4k to these matches against the original PAFC/PAMFC)

Adelaide v South 1853 (at least 4k Crows supporters)

Sturt v Glenelg 2918 (Got 11k not long ago)

Wow nice attempt at a straw man argument to make things appear worse than they actually are, by bringing up an 11k crowd in 2008. 1-that crowd was not at Unley it was at Glenelg and 2-it was at a time when Glenelg were top of the table for the first time in many years and our crowds went through the roof. In case you've missed it, things are a little different for us now. If there were 500 Glenelg supporters there yesterday I'd be blown away, probably more like 200.

As for South v Adelaide, that crowd, while obviously not great, is a few hundred up on their crowds for the North and Centrals games.

Thats ambitious

Especially considering therer was 13 people on the northern hill with no bar open and no more than 100 on the outer wing.

Lucky to be 1300 at most.

Using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_SANFL_season and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_SANFL_season.

Note for 2013 Round 10 attendances missing and Round 12 Central v Port missing.

2013 had average of 2766 per game to this point of the season.
2014 has average of 2833 per game to this point of the season.

SANFL sides only in 2014 ave per game is 2693.
Games with AFL Reserves involvement in 2014 ave per game is 3187.

Couple of things in regards to these crowds, i'd say if you take out the Walker game against us our crowds would be horrible, may sound a bit bias but having us down the bottom would be pretty bad for crowds this year. Lucky that Sturt are doing well, out of the big clubs Norwood, Sturt, North and us only Sturt are playing consistently good. Be interesting to see what happens, as i think in the next two years depending on how all of this is structured i could see a consistent decline coming up, the only way you can generate some more interest is if the league lifts the handouts or just distributes them better and lifts the salary cap to improve the standard, imho it has really dropped in the last two or three years.

1853 @ Noarlunga???
Didn't look like more than 1500 to me.
First time I have seen just a 'hand full' of supporters on the Grassed Area @ North West Flank.
I would suggest that figure is inflated.

Noarlunga figures are slightly deceptive due to the Cars in the outer.

so i have a question - who is to blame for diminishing crowds? is it the crows fault that a sturt glenelg game doesnt get the crowd it used to?

Yep, the whole AFL thing, I know heaps of people who don't go to any games because of it.
