The rumours of the Eagles' death have been greatly exaggerated.

Don't think Mark Twain had a victory over South Adelaide in mind when he said that.

Ladder after rd 6

NW 10..65.34
WA 8...54.82
GL 8...53.96
CD 6...52.69
NA 6...49.44
SA 6....47.82
ST 4...46.52
PA 2...46.83
EG 2...37.59

Games played
5 NW-CD-ST
6 WA-GL-NA-PA-EG
7 SA

That deplorable EG % is a problem
Must also add, that the EG have had a tough early season draw, they have only played the teams above them on the ladder

Was a great quote at the time, but horrid overuse has eroded the wit of it. Sadly people will find any excuse to trot it out now.

It does make a difference
For example look at PA + EG
Same wins, but PA are above them on the ladder
Poor % means EG will MOST likely need to win an extra game compared to the other teams

IF the EG beat ST this week, the same is applicable

Depending on results next week, the Eagles could be one win and (lots of) percentage behind 4th place.

Its not about making the five, you have to make the three or else your down to about 5% chance of winning a premiership!

I agree, but remember last year the Eagles won the flag after playing in all 4 weeks of the Finals - that's like winning the flag after playing in the Elimination Final.

But don't forget mate, the Eagles didn't start the 2011 season 0-5 though, RB

I just think if we make it to Football Park in September, we'll be able to mount a decent challenge. If we make it.

It also included a loss, a luxury not afforded starting from the Elim .. Regardless, I reckon the Eagles will make the 5 and quite possibly the 3 still, and either way I expect them to be right amongst it at the business end.

Eagles will finish 3rd.

They don't have to get passed too much.

Sportsbet Premiership odds

NW $2-25
CD $3-50
GL $7-50
EG $12
WA $12
SA $15
PA $26
ST $26
NA $31

Sportsbet have a healthy respect for the Going, Going, Almost Gone Goddonites

Beats me how GL [3RD] are much shorter odds than WA [2ND] perhaps Bayman still has an account with them ?
Beats me how PA [1 WIN]are shorter odds than NA [3 WINS] perhaps Booney has an account with them ?
