COngrats to the Eagles, well done...I almost forgot I didnt barrack for them today!

the joy on a few of my mates faces was enough for me, theve been there during the tough times....I had to convince one of them with a few strong words (softcock etc) and he did turn up and thanked me profusely!!!

to those WWT fans that didnt turn up, and I know a few, simply because it was the Dogs, it serves you right to miss out on one of the finest footy memories.

From a fan of a club that hasnt had much success lately, every finals appearance if a gift, crave it, lap it up and be passionate about your club. Surely beating the dogs in the GF is better than any other team at this stage in your history?....well done again

Well done eagles, fully deseved the win.Out played us all day and showed they were not overawed and were by far the better side.We didnt play very well all day.A hell of alot of unforced errors and mistakes and we couldnt get any free ball, due to the eagles relentless pressure. One consilation the last time we lost a GF we came back and won 3 in a row (just hoping).

WELL DONE EAGLES, CONGRATULATIONS.

PS Colville should get a medal, if he doesnt its a disgrace.Maybe we need to have a petition.

Well done Eagles. It takes some guts to keep coming back after some of the losses on the big stage in recent years but that makes victory even sweeter. I can only look on in envy. I was impressed with the mental strength today, particularly early when the chances were'nt being taken and the Dogs went forward to get a goal or two. Like many I thought the writing was on the wall and expected a response from the Dogs in the second quarter and it didn't come.

I thought Cicca deserved the Jack Oatey as he was clearly the BOG when the game was there to be won.

It was interesting to note the niggle aimed at the Gowans boys all day long and the Eagles clearly had a mindset to attack mentally and physically rather than be attacked. The challenge is to sustain it and actually win the footy and they did both so well done.

As for next year, it'll be interesting to see how the Dogs respond. I for one won't be writing them off but there will obviously be a few departures and they may try and invest in some legspeed. Most Dogs supporters (ignoring one particular thread) seem to be taking the loss with a fair bit of perspective and realism.....I guess 5 flags in 7 years may take the edge off the pain slightly. That's the beauty of footy, there's always next year..........

I'm not so sure about that. I know what you are saying, and Colville certainly deserves a medal, and hopefully in retrospect he will receive one. However, although he would be pleased the Eagles won, he is still very disappointed he didn't play in the game and may view the medal in the same way as a Jack Oatey medallist in a losing team. In years to come he may look at the medal and remember the disappointment of not playing. I'm sure the Eagles will find an appropriate way to honour their captain.

Well done my Mighty EAGLES 13 long years in the coming thank you boys .
What a way to win close them down and make them look slow and old !!!!!!!
The doggies fans sitting near me found the game slow and boring not me all I could do was cheer as my guys walked all over the doggies .
For all those doggies fans(and others) who told us eagles fans not to turn up the footy gods were not happy never write a team off before a game people!!!
Finally the cup comes back to the western suburbs wohooooooooooo go you eagles

YOU ******* BEAUTY.

What a great day.

I rocked up around 11am to chat with the NAFC boys (Wedgie, Punky, Ian, Drebs et al) in the car park which was a great start. This year I went alone, as my Dad couldn't make it - I've been to all the losing grand finals with Dad so it was a bit weird.

Congratulations to North for thrashing an underperforming Norwood outfit in the seconds Grand Final. You couldn't put a foot wrong all day.

The main game, well, what can I say.

I thought we were kicking ourselves out of it in the first quarter. We had 80% of the play yet the second the Dogs go forward, Westhoff snaps truely. But to our credit, we didn't hang our heads and kept running.

The harassing today was first class. I honestly haven't seen us play a more dedicated game in terms of harassing the opposition players with the ball, group-tackling, it was great. Centrals really had a hard time bringing the ball out from the kick ins, our use of space was excellent.

Jarrad and Treeby played one of the better games for the club. The usual suspects of Skipworth, Cicca and Powell were everywhere and Cooper stood up with class in the final quarter. Grocke consitantly created a target for us and the smaller forwards (Westbook, Symmons et al) were great. Excellent hanger from Westbrook in the final moments of the third quarter!

I've been to all the losing grand finals and it's been painful. Today really did go a long way towards healing some of those scars (Though they will never be fully healed) and I am extremely happy.

Before anyone says anything YES I've been back to the club! Had a beer in the rooms by myself at the bar, then lined up for an hour for a canary yellow tshirt. Feeling quite tired and burnt though, so now at home.

I'm glad I got a flexi tomorrow =)

What a day

Two things today proved;

- More often than not when you keep getting knocked down AND you find a way to keep getting back up, eventually you succeed .... Cue "Tubthumping" please

- No matter what the records, what the stats or what the leadup to a game, Grand Finals are not won until the day ..... that's why you play the game.

Personally, when I took on the job as Marketing Manager at South Adelaide the one downside I knew would result is that my loyalties would now need to change.

That's life

Whilst personally there is an some inner feeling of satisfaction & relief my major emotion is to be happy for all those die-hard Eagles people I have come to know over the past years that have been to hell and back in waiting for this moment.

This especially includes guys like CD & Ron who have suffered so much but have stayed the course.

That's life

I'm not at Woodville as I have a 7am start for the South Golf Day tomorrow, a big day as it is the first time I meet many of the Panthers supporters & sponsors.

(Staggering in half tanked, with GO EAGLES tattoed to my forehead would probably not be a good career move).

Thats life

However as a tradeoff I was "volunteered" last week to be the South rep at the chimney ceremony on Tuesday. I am sure between professionally representing my club I will have the odd occassion to congratulate Ron and the boys (only because its important to be a good sport you see.)

Thats something I'll be looking forward to.

Well done Eagles
Well done to the Doggie fans who have been very sporting in defeat
Well done to Central for rebuilding themselves all the way to the Grand Final.

What a fantastic day. Thoroughly deserved. Full credit to Fuller who was one step ahead of Laird all day. Heroic efforts by all players. Special mention in particular to Cicolella and Cooper who I thought were our two best, but there were so many not far behind. Colville was wearing a medal back at presentations. Loved Passador's opinion of Honour's article. It was great to finally save the best for last. Respect has been earnt and long live the great rivalry between two great clubs.
