Some of the others have reasonable room, but none are really up to standard, with the exception of South's, which is the newest.

Can't disagree with that, the biggest problem is not so much the amenities but the lack of size. The SANFL will need a whole lot of $$$$ to fix that biggest problem,

Mind you the Centrals and Sturt rooms are bloody disgracefull for their lack of size and Centrals in particular for teh separation between where the league team change and reserves are located.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

CD, your visitors rooms is one of the few that have a separate doctors room and a trainers treatment room -- also there is an safe area for property staff personnel to work in without being hit by errant footballs or players during warm up, area for female staff cloths change (Doctors room), --- IMO, based on being a staff member for around 25 years I feel your rooms are the best in most requirements.

My opinion of other visitors rooms noting all use unisex toilets with no specific facilities for female staff members.

Elizabeth - 2 small sets showers, 2 toilet facilities, doctors room, no trainers treatment/strapping room, no safe property personnel area, area for female staff cloths change (Doctors room) reasonable size for player warm up, can get extremely hot in warmer weather -- not worst facility.

North Adelaide - 2 separate rooms, good/safe facilities for all staff, two small sets showers, doctors enclosure, limited player warm up area is biggest limitation, no private area for female staff cloths change.

Alberton - comprises of three rooms (2 small & one larger), good shower toilet facilities, player warm up area reasonable, no private area for female staff cloths change.

Richmond - leave up to others as I am bias :)

Norwood - heard there was plans to change but last time I was there - League under southern grandstand, small toilet facilities with urinal in open (not good given female staff members - large separate doctors/trainers room - safe staff working area provided --- reserves under western stand, these facilities very second world IMO.

Glenelg -- seems smallest room in league and seems to get smaller every year -very large doctors/trainers rooms also provide private female change area, staff working area safety issues, toilet/shower facilities OK --- my biggest concern reference the Glenelg Oval is while I love the style of the race the potential for player/staff to get injured through slipping negotiating the steep sets of steps in the race need consideration.

Unley --- Separate doctors room also provides private female change area, warm up area same as most ovals, safe staff working area available, toilet/showers comparitable with other ovals.

Souths - separate doctors room - best showers/toilet facilities in League, fair warm up area, no safe property personnel area.

In overview most are fair but I suspect the main league changes will be relating to private facilities for the fairer sex --- Like the famous wall at Norwood, none of the safe work area issues become a problem until a staff member of player is injured at which time the League & club has a large issue for not providing a safe work environment -- I have seen staff injured at most ovals but thankfully with no law suits to date --- to upgrade size is just not possible at most ovals without the building of extensions or the use of ATCO huts --- Alberton, Glenelg, Unley, Norwood & Richmond could be made larger but would require a directive from SANFL (unlikely) --- hard issue to address.

I believe that Prospect is one of the better ones, except that it doesn't have a proper white board or even one at all. Central and South is good enough. Woodville is good as well. Port is cramped with only one entry and exit. Glenelg is cramped esp. when it's the finals and there's two teams use the same rooms. West is crap try getting in and out during the game, bags everywhere, playing finals with more than one side would be crazy. Unley is a little better, but at least no bags to trip over. Don't get me started about Norwood. We use both change rooms under the western stand or the Dungen (sp?) which what we call them. Cramped.
The worst thing about some change rooms is the distance we have to go to the bench. Prospect, Norwood (if you are using room d next to the canteen) and Central are the longest.

You make some very good points mighty eagles. The trick to these upgrades IMO, is to hope that the Committee overseeing the spend ensures that it draws up a list of standards that must be the minimum for every visitor changeroom. There is no point just handing an amount to each clubs if there are to be no set standards otherwise we will be back to where we are now - varying standards of facilities when the upgrades are complete.

Just trying to qualify your comments a little Tas. Are you referring to the current rooms, in the blocks behind the grandstand or the old ones underneath the stand? I thought for size, they are OK. I agree with the distance factor, too far from the oval to have rooms. Changes are afoot on the score.

Whilst the size of the rooms out the back isn't an issue their distance from the main room is and is bloody awkward packing up after teh ressies and bringing ice, strapping boxes, oils etc back to teh main room. The visitors league changing room is the smallest in the league thankfully only one team changes in there.

as Oldfella stated Norwood is the worst when it comes to separation. Sometimes the ressies would be given the room furthest away from the visitors league changing room used to have over a 100 m walk transferring stuff back.

Having said all that Glenelg and Sturts are the smallest visitors rooms when it comes to fitting two teams into the one area, from what I can recall.

Cheers, can't argue with any of that. And as I say, changes are afoot.
