If a key forward is North 3rd priority well there not in too much trouble and things have turned out not too bad.

I still think though, if a player wants to be at your club and you have offered him a great contract with a decent job and all the other requirements the player needs he will understand why they have to wait to officially sign depending on the draft.

Alot of players also won't sign before the drafts as they want to be the key player in the position. In Central case if we had signed a gun midfielder on the basis Callinan was leaving, he would be spewing now that he has to play second fiddle to Callinan and doubts about the move may enter his mind. This is a common issue i have heard from players that i have spoke to over the years.

James Moss came on the scene in the reserves late last season, and played extremely well. He reminds me of slightly smaller version of Havelberg. He is very very strong over head but has that ability to play more in the midfield, fairly fast and has a great fitness levels. He will definatly need to put on bulk before he is even considered for SANFL league level.

I wouldn't expect him to play many league games this season, he will more than likely get a chance in the Dogs league squads for the trial games and he will need to star incredibly to stay in the league side. Though hey may play a part late in the year similiar to how Obst got in the side.

Looking at NFC INS and OUTS still think they need a few more recuits to improve in 2008...

Ins:Doyle, Gieschen, Davis, Coombes

Out: Meesen, Nicholas, McGuinness, Sandery, Crouch, Pfeiffer, Wonaeamirri, Bailey, Pratt

Realistically only one of those losses really hurts our structure, Kmac, and a few others will be missed at the fringes of league selection like Aussie and maybe Nicholas.

The club is still very active on the recruiting front and should have more to announce in the next week or so. A few more pacy midfielders wouldn't go astray.

I'm not so sure the problem isn't more one of consistency of motivation, rather than just manpower, given the fluctuating performances last year, but it is hard to tell from over here.

McGuinness is obviously a big loss.

i would think that Dylan jessen will be in front of moss in the pecking order at centrals. he is a year younger but i would almost exspect dylan to captain the state 18s next year.

The status quo is maintained at South. Not surprising after such a mediocre year. Although I would have liked to see Sam Elliott picked up.

Norwood were hit hard today. That now makes 4 first choice players who won't be at the Parade in 2008.

We lost by 158 points at Elizabeth and you're sad that four players won't be there? FFS.

Was that necessary? We were pathetic this year, that 158 point game being the prime example, but you take out 4 players, all of resonable importance and we're even worse. That is what I'm sad about; I'm a realist and I honestly see another year towards the bottom of the ladder unless we sign a few more key recruits and quick.

McGuinness, Pfeiffer, Wonaemirri and Meesen are all first choice players, 2 quality defenders, 1 small forward and 1 ruckman. That's a lot to lose in one off-season, and as I said unless we recruit exceptionally well we're going to be in a lot of trouble.

Don't disagree with you NFC except in the case of Johnny Meeson - Wasn't a first choice player imho last year and isn't as good as Doyle who needs his body to hold up to show how much extra value he'll bring over any of last years ruck options.

The other 3 you have mentioned are big losses, but that's the way our league works now, every club would reasnably expect an influx and exodus of playing personnel every year and should be prepared to remedy the matter as opposed to falling upon excuses.
