IIRC it was to ensure a footy is in a player's hands as often and long as possible making the player's ball skills better with the ball being an extension of his body. Is that correct or is it something else?

Makes sense.
As an academy coach with junior footbal (soccer as you guys call it), the kids I coach are never allowed to pick up the soccer ball, they must always move it with their feet no matter what they are doing or where they are going.

All they charge the player is $60 for their ball and they can pay when they like either by match payments or by cash at the club. I think it is a good deal $60 for a good ball every year and the players pay for nothing other than the ball, all uniforms, functions etc are paid for by the club. I think the Centrals players get a great deal and the club is re vamping the Gym and the players have not been asked to help pay for it. From what I have heard other clubs make the players pay for their club shirts and functions etc.
Paying for 1 ball that you can take home every night is fine as all the other benefits stack up.

Are Centrals players allowed to play with each others balls or are they only allowed to play with their own?

Ben Cousins wants to play for free in the SANFL next year- will play rounds 8-16 to play every club once. Rehab at start of season so wont start to round 8. At end of season will resume rehab and ensure he is injury free for an AFL bid again in 2009. (Play for free = no salary cap issues for said club).
