i only saw the first 3 terms & thought sturt were pretty good & in the first half a 'young' bald player up forward looked good  & overall their ball movement & skill level was better than wwt, on wwt i thought they experimented a lot more & seemed a lot more desperate after halftime

bottom line is that both clubs would be happy with what they saw & got what they wanted out of it
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

As it was a trial game I really was just hopin to see what the new recruits were gonna serve up and I left very happy with what I saw.

Full marks to the club for gettin Wicksy back to the club first of all he was great all day.

Cubillo was great across half back and I couldnt believe how hard he goes at it all day.

Of the other recruits Perrie looked strong and fit / Mcglone found the ball well all afternoon and the suprise packet was the young lad Port Power drafted Mitchell Farmer and he seemed to get more and more confident.

Where I was sitting, watching with some great friends, just enjoying the beautiful weather and the free entertainment, there were supporters around in full swing season mode with abuse and applause. My god I thought I was going to have to perform CPR to some of these both elderly and obese Eagles supporters.
I say good luck to you people and I hope you make it through the season.

So you didn't pay any attention to the Sturt cheer squad yelling something that only they could understand.
And footy is stress relief
But it is the 1st trail game of the year so not much to read into it.

We strolled in from the sthn end and moved to the nth west pocket shortly after so I heard the Sturt CS also and know what you're talking about, however the Eagle supporters were just as moronic up in the NW pocket also.
Trial game FFS!
However a good start up game and good to see Jacky playing for the Eagles. for Sturt, Whiteman was great, McGlone has pace to burn, Thring played well as did Fittock and Farmer. Cubillo will add muscle to the side and hats off to Wicks, great to have him back.

Blue Boy, did Cubillo play across HB for the whole game. I was wondering where he might play at Sturt. One of the reasons he left North (supposedly) was that he wanted to play further up.

Yeh, I think Cubillo played most of the game from half back, wandering through the middle occasionally

Cheers GDB. It will be interesting to see whether he stays at HB this year is it was one of the reasons he left North.

I think it shows that all us fans no matter who we support are starved of real good footy
Jacky IMHO was being played out of position by the Eagles . I think he should be a small roving forward .
Got to see the Vic recruits for the eagles hopefully by round 1 they will be totally up to SANFL speed .This also applies to young mackie in the two's.Dont get me wrong I liked the look of the guys but they need to adapt to SANFL footy .Couch and Biagi both did some good things .Young nick from westies when on the ground oh yes he has a bright future . Roberts has improved still needs more work .
Some good things from the EAGLES number 12 looked ok not sure who he was he wasn't listed ,In the two's some tall forwards looked to be developing a younger taller Redden looks good .

Cheers

Long time reader of this site, and looking forward to another footy season. It was good to get out and finally watch some footy yesterday.

What was so disappointing about the canteen? I for one was glad to be able to grab a drink and something to eat without having to leave the oval surrounds.

Fatal Berton has lynched him in the hope of being the next subject on the CI channel.

You could only buy pies pasties and S rolls, some of us are not supposed to eat crappy food like that(thats written for my doctor  ) .when WWT runs home games the rotary club runs a BBQ be it at Woodville or Thebarton.Plus the canteen ran out of diet drinks early on.And yes I could have brought my own food from home but I didnt .
Not to worry playing West at Broadspectrum next week the best BBQ going.

Fair enough Mickyj. Don't imagine trial games would be the easiest things to cater for, as you could never be sure how many people were going to turn up!
