Do "Silk Telecom" get a gig on their normal guernsey? If not, I'd guess that's what he meant. A second guernsey gives more "advertising" space I guess

Plus the merchandising side you're right Wedgie

But if that wasn't the case wouldn't the sponsor that normally gets a gig on that part of the normal guernsey miss out on half a year's exposure thus halving their investment and keeping the overall sponsorhip $$$s the same?
Or if anything a sponsor that would normally go for space on the one guernsey for the whole year might skimp out and just go on the alternate guernsey thus giving the club less sponsorship $$$s? :?

Dunno Wedgie you'd have to ask the club I suppose :D

I guess the + revenue from the alternative strip is > then the - revenue from not using the normal strip as much. I'd guess the main sponsors would probably not be fussed (and not reduce their sponsor $) as they are on the both strips from what I can see (Unley Nissan and DeBartolo Wines)

You make good points tho - I'm just guessing based on what the Sturt player said which seemed to make sense at the time

Soooo...SJABC, going by that logic, every jumper with a vee/yoke design looks
like the Victory shirt. :?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

I hate it, some of the heritage guernseys theyve worn which are predominately dark blue looked fantastic, why didn't they go for something similar to that.
Im not being critical because its Sturt, I was just as critical about North's atrocious effort and thought they too should have used some of their historical guernseys as a basis for something better.
Still, its got a Vee in it and that's always a good thing!
Crikey, first Norwood and West design new guernsey's like North's and now Sturt are stealing our Vee, everyone wants to be like North!

For those who haven't seen it there's a copy of it on doubleblue.org:

White has always been on our geurnsey, it's just not an official colour of the club. I have to agree that I prefer the dark blue option, however it's still a pretty good looking guernsey.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Alternative? ie, we're clashing with someone? (or is the board deciding we're as good as Liverpool and Man U and need an alternative strip for nothing other than revenue purposes?)

Mind you, Carlton (my mob in that alternate comp) wear white with a blue emblem, even though our colour(s) are navy blue.

The Eagles do wear more Gold when playing Sturt so there isn't too much blue and players get confused.

Perhaps they could make some sort of almalgimation of all the sponsors logos to create a third strip.

Like the basic design, hate the multiple sponsor logos.

I think the "Edna Sharples" from "Coronation Street", referred to in that doubleblue thread, was actually "ENA".
