Does that mean you don't want me to mention Michael Graham kicked a goal from the wing to put Sturt within a straight kick after being 6 goals down just 4 minutes earlier? 8)

LOL Ur such a biatch ... I much prefer it when Punk runs BFC

For Centrals Danny Stevens.

7 goals at Unley in 2000 Round 1.

It was a classic game of SANFL aswell which Sturt kicked themselves out of basically.

final score

Centrals 20.14 (134)
Sturt 15.27 (117)

Danny Stevens was BOG with 35 possesions plus games for both the qualifying and second semi finals in 2000. he didnt have a great GF though and missed out thru suspension in 2001.

David Niemann for Torrens vs Sturt Round 5 1988 kicked 5 goals 3 points and was the youngest ever Torrens player to make his debut at 16 years and 4 months.

How about David Trotter in the very same game as Walker - so don't need to go back too far at all!

So I take it that no-one beats Mike Smith's 8 goals from a forward flank in his first game :D

I think it was round 1 1983 ? spelly ?

Good call. I'm certain he polled Magarey votes in that game. Was especially exciting when he was slicing up schoolboy sides six weeks later, until he decided it was a better bet to ditch the school footy at St Michael's, change school, and just concentrate on the Port league team.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

There was a guy from Sturt many years ago, can't remember his name. Apparently he kicked a dozen or so goals in his first game. I'll see if I can find his name.

Edt: I think his name was Leske who booted 12 goals in round 1, 1945.

Best debut game I ever saw was Phil Carman, round 1 1970. Absolutely brilliant.

They didn't let the Double Blues down. In their first match against South at Unley Oval, Kleinig just kept winning the footy in the middle, breaking clear, and passing it to Ev Leske's quick leads. Leske kicked 12 goals. Some debut. "I just knew where Ev was going to go," Kleinig said last year at the Concordia College centenary dinner

Just to add some useless info... Ev Leske was my German teacher at Concordia College. We had about 4 ex-Sturt players as teachers back then, it meant for some great footy at lunch times taking hangers off teachers backs.

SMAC, read the article then, it's about all 4 ministers, fathers or whatever they were.

I was thinking Neil Hawke may have been applicable to this thread, but upon doing a search, i discovered it was his third SANFL game where he kicked 15 goals (and was dropped 2 games later  ).

Heres one from left field - Kym Dillon polled 6 Magarey votes on debut for the Roosters [2 umps voted back then].
He only played 3 games late in the year and was BOG, ORDINARY and then REPORTED in game 3 so the votes were definately on debut.

It seems Sturt have some form in young players on the turps. That's twice in 40 years now.

That reminds me of Sturt's Brian Martin who replaced Emmy Jones for 1 match in 1966. He kicked 10 goals against West Adelaide and was dropped the following week to make way for Jones to return to the team. :)

I'm sure the Sturt players chosen in the Under 18 state squad this year will promptly be advised of the inappropriateness of indulging in the consumption of inappropriate beveridges
