For Sturt to get so close with half their side is very impressive, this game has turned the Bays from being Flag favourites to the Double Blues to being favourites IMHO.
Any other week and the Blues would have had a 6-8 goal better side.
Worrying times for Bays supporters.
Morale victors today was easily Sturt.
Wouldn't suprise me to see Glenelg start sliding after an effort like that today.

At 3/4 time i wasn't very confident, after knowing we had lost murph and Ruwoldt, but was a great showing in the end.

And to all the Sturt supporters who said they had 7 players out, AFL listed players dont COUNT so get over it!

Congratulations to the first poster to mention Sturt had some players out.
Well done Bays, I wasn't holding out too much hope before the game, but reading how it developed and we held a lead going into the final quarter with the breeze, dropped marks, missed goals........ I am pretty gutted now!
I may send away to Charles for a DVD of this one, it must have been a pretty good spectacle.
Amazing that last year's Elimination/Qualifying Final double header didn't get as big a crowd.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

granted sturt had players out, but the 21 who took the field were fantastic, however the umpiring was absolutely disgraceful, diabolical - call it what you want, sturt in front at 3/4 time with a 4 goal breeze to come home with, our gutsiest win post crows, there is no doubt about it

Agree Sturt were very very good, we didnt deserve to win to be honest but good sides just find a way to win this time of year, margin or how doesnt matter one little bit, look at the Dogs for an example

Glenelg were due for a let down and certainly got that today, but still won....great signs IMO...there are some tired and sore boys at the GFC at the minute, must remember to thank North for giving us an 8 day break thsi week 8)

Amazing footy game. For the first half the team with the breeze (worth ~3 goals IMO) had the upper hand. Huge contrast in the second half. The Blues put in an enormous effort to prevent the Bays from scoring a goal with the breeze in the 3rd qtr, and the Bays did the same in the last. That said, Sturt had clearly their chances with two bad misses late in the game. Glad we are getting that out of our system pre-September this year! Neither forward line really got on top all day and the hard tackling and hip and shoulders were a real feature by both teams.

I think there are positives for both Clubs to come out of the game. The Bays continue their winning streak and are now clear league leaders. The way they are playing they only need to be given half a chance to punish you and that's the way it went late in the game. An undermanned Sturt really took it up to them and with a little better execution could have finished winners. The depth of Sturt that has been talked about by supporters is real. Very impressed with Avery's performance. I rated him highly in the pre-season but he was only ever going to get a chance with some injuries. Wicks ran all day as did Crane and Sheedy. Coad and Gum also had their moments. Whiteman hard as nails as per usual. Kurtze worked tirelessly, Perrie worked hard up the ground and in the ruck, Jaensch showed his silky skills to dob one home on the half time siren. In general, defenders at both ends of the ground beat their respective forwards and it was the running of the Bays midfield in the last, plus some poor kicking for goal by Sturt, that won them the game.

Fantastic game, great crowd & superb atmosphere, excellent facilities (incl. quick moving lager cues), disappointing result for Blues fans but can't fault the players' efforts one bit. I can't remember being so satisfied after a loss in the recent past. A memorable day out for all!

Sturt may have had changes... but I also think Glenelg deserve credit for being down to one on the bench for the majority of the last half. Especially against such a hard running side.

"Worrying times for Bays supporters".. Wedgie... you gotta be ***ing kidding me. Top of the ladder... 10 & 1... a massive win v Doggies last week... lost Fisher pre game.. lost Roo then Murph.... 4 points down kicking into a massive breeze last qtr.. yet had the balls to WILL themselves across the line. Didn't play well no doubt but it takes all sorts of qualities to get across the line... today it was guts and TEAM spirit. Dug deep.

AT NO STAGE am I suggesting that Sturt weren't up against it with injuries and the loss of AFL players. But to suggest we should be concerned... is a ridiculous statement. ONE loss hurts no-one.
