BLOODY CORNES!

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Yeah well I must admit I am fed up with Cornes as well. The only reason both him and KG have listeners is because there is no one else to listen to about football in the afternoon. Cornes is so intolorent of anyone with a differing point of view. He made a complete idiot of himself when he came out and said Soccer was boring...then the whole nation stayed up watching the Aussies win. He is always going on about tall poppy syndrome and yet he is the first to bag soccer because he is scared it will out do aussie rules.

Exactly my point, and I haven't seen too much (if any) trouble from Centrals supporters at North games in the last few years (except the 2 clowns that got ejected from Prospect in 2004 before the Ressies finished for beating each other up  ), but I have seen it from supporters of other clubs.

If everyone just boycotted the dickheads the ratings would drop and AA would be forced to find some decent presenters.

If you listen to that rubbish you get all you deserve.

The irony is though that if they found some "decent presenters" they would create much less controversy, and people like us wouldn't be discussing them on websites, and hence ratings would probably be lower than now!

Why is it that KG doesn't read the E-Mails?
(By the way, I am not a Pom, just a jacked-off 4th Gen. Ozzie who is frustrated with Graham Cornes' apparent intent to alienate Us from the rest of the competition).
(Well, I told a Little lie, my Mum was born in Wales, Chepstow in fact. A lovely little town located just over the Severn Bridge. The town is actually located within the walls of a very old castle, where they filmed Jabberwocky. It's actually on the junction of the Severn River, which is more like an inlet, and the Wye River, full of lovely big Salmon. Just a short drive up the Wye Valley, you come across pretty little towns such as Lydney & Llandogo & Tintern Abbey. Just on from there is Symonds Yat & from the top you can see as far off as 7 counties. Anyway, enough of that. go you 'dogs.

There would be no uproar because it's a ludicrous suggestion. What are our supporters going to do to the opposition - knit them to death?

Actually ZipZap, I have to say that in the north-western corner of Unley Oval, there are some of the worst supporters that I have encountered, mainly due to the way that they abuse their own side!

I don't think Cornes would be too worried about soccer's impact on Aussie Rules. There's a lot of excitement because it's an "event". Aussie people always flock to an event. It's an excuse to party, and if the Aussies win, the party goes on. Let's see how many of those people start attending local soccer matches. I would say very, very few. Now that Italy has defeated Australia, soccer will disappear from the front and back pages of the Advertsiser and we will hear little about it until 2010.

Football Australia needs to look at the Super-14s if it wants to maintain serious interest in the code on our shores.

Doubt if a national comp will ever truly be a success.

An Asian-Pacific league with a few teams from Australia would be sensational.

Look, no one is denying that Sturt, like every club, has a 'feral' element. I've picked up and moved from supposed Blues fans who, like you say, bag their own and can't string a sentence together without F & C words. But that's a far cry from the blatant thuggery and violence of a certain minority who we are talking about here. I'm talking about the guys who don't have the wit to respond to any form of humorous footy banter (call it sledging if you like) without resorting to snotting someone, or threatening to do so. They seem to feed off of violence and fear and have no place at a suburban footy ground. Other clubs have dickhead fans to be sure, those who sh*t-stir, get drunk and mouth off more than they should. But the ones who come to the game with hate in their eyes, hard-wired for a dust-up almost always come wearing red, white and blue.

Wouldn't be so sure about that Atlanta...Firstly I think Cornes is worried about it (deep down) thats why he always finds negatives with it. You should read his article from last saturdays Tiser. Secondly I am not so sure it will leave the back pages to soon. Remember News Ltd owns Foxtel and they carry all premier league matches. So it would make sense they would continue to cover soccer in order to boost sales od foxtel. Unfortunately I think SANFL could be the big looser. They certainly will not cut back AFL coverage!!!

I wouldn't be too concerned. Last night's farcical result will confirm the suspicions of a lot of the newer converts and send them off packing for the home comforts of 'real footy'.

I'm going to leap to the defence of Centrals supporters on this one. I have 2 brothers who are massive doggies fans and I have stood in the outer with them and never seen anything I could not have seen amongst any other teams followers. Yes they have their share of wankers but so do we and every other club. If you get yourself on theirs or anyone else's radar then you can expect trouble so the best course of action is just to ignore them.
I'm not saying that what happened at Glenelg on saturday was overly intelligent but they weren't doing anything illegal either so by buying into it you are only going to inflame it.

I can also say without fear of contradiction that I have seen some pretty ordinary acts by Bay supporters over the years so lets not get too sensitive about what really amounts to not much.

when your on the receiving end of it then its not bloody good. ZipZap i was the one that the skin head came back too. totally unprovoked. they were walking out saying something about their premierships and my uncle and i said "seeya later". then we heard the usual "come here and say it" to which we both ignored it. they had gone out the gate and i thought nothing of it, until about 2 minutes later they come back and both wanna go the biff.

its incidents like this that keep people away from local football
