For Centrals my best were Griffen, Lawry, Thomas, Hayes, C.Gowans, J.Gowans, O'Hara with special mentions to Hardy and Henderson (his seconds efforts today were brilliant and responsible for atleast two of our goals.)

Strangely at the beginning of the last quarter with the Eagles down by 3 goals Scott Welsh starts in the backlines.

Once again the umpiring was comical to say the least, absolutey disgraceful performance didn't favour any side was just really bad both ways.

Well done Dogs but what that was the expected result .
Welsh will run down back and be a lose man in defence off his own back. And I noticed he swapped from time to time with Salter as well.
Dare I say no Grocke no I wont .But I will say second week in a row the Eagles missed Grocke.

So are you saying Grocke's stupidity has cost the Eagles the last 2 wins?

Think I saw him in the stand sitting between Daniel Schell and Daniel Havelberg

I thought today was a very good game, with plenty of highlights. The Eagles gave us a scare, good to see the lift in response when needed.
Well done to Chris on his 200th, champion. Symes and the HAYESernater were very good after their long breaks also.
Some great highlights were O'Hara's goal. The Thomas tackle on the half time siren (well on an Eagles player, seconds before the siren). Callinan's maybe match saving tackle at our centre half forward position, resulting in holding the ball, goal. Callinan three votes. Tackling was a feature, great pressure.
All the backmen played well. They played in front and it mostly worked. Some big grabs from both teams.
Very good game from Griffen as well.
A lot to like as a couple of players were a bit quiet and others stepped up.

Dogs just too classy today, when the game was there to be won they stood up. We probably didnt deserve to win but were still a silly chance early in the last.
Griffin has got to get a chance for the Crows soon, was best big man on the ground today IMO, won the battle with Parry, who seemed to win against McKenzie who outclassed Seb.

Great BBQ out there today, some nice stuff at the ladies auxillary cake stall too...but disappointed there were no chockie crackles!!!

Firstly let me just say that the final score was pretty much the correct reflection of how much better Central's were than us today. I was actually a bit surpised we managed to get within 2 goals in the last but always thought it was a matter of time before the doggies kicked away.

Griffen destroyed us in the ruck. Was too tall for Parry and won most of the hitouts. Parry did better around the ground and dominated over McKenzie I thought. As for Guilhaus....absolutely terrible and should be demoted for next week. Godden's biggest blunder of hte year was dropping Miles for Guilhaus. I'm sure this will be rectified this year.

I thought Welsh played a pretty good game and gave 100% effort unlike some of his team-mates. Rowntree has surprised me this year played a decent game today I thought.

Cheep and Banner's games were dreadful. I would have thought Banner would come out breathing fire after being dropped last week but on today's performance he'd better get used to the reserves.

Is it time to start reintroducing McKenzie into the midfield? He is having a shocker of a year in the backline so far and playing him in the midfield in small bursts may help him regain confidence and touch. Seems to have lost even more of his speed this year by the looks of it.

I guess the only positive of our loss (and some of the others this year) is that we've never really given up which is a good refleciton of the club. However with the competition tightening right up we'd better start putting things together because there is not much between second and seventh.

Hendo did alright.....difficult for him as he was the only key forward, Gunston up to the Crows and no Schell, the Dogs midfield just rotated through the forward line so did well to kick 19 goals.......

A solid, if scrappy at times, win over another pacesetter of the competition. Chris Gowans and Brad Symes were understandably scratchy at times but were overall very good considering neither had played all year.

When Centrals were hot during the game (late 1st, late 2nd, start 3rd, late 4th in particular), we were hot. We couldn't put a foot wrong, and we were surprisingly accurate. When they were off, they made some fundamental errors and the Eagles capitalised, and gave us an almighty scare early in the last quarter. But it was fantastic to respond and finish off the game in style.

Finally, the umpiring was appalling today, but not surprised against the Eagles. The Eagles must be aware of the run they often get from the umps considering at times when Centrals were getting the upper hand they started playing for free kicks and were taking some almighty dives. I think the best one was halfway through the third quarter, there was a boundary throw in, and the Eagles ruckman didn't even go for the ball, and just fell to the ground. Griffin took the easy ruck and the resultant play resulted in a Centrals goal.

All up, we're on top of the ladder, a game clear of 2nd place and with a game in hand. Lets keep this up!
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Very good exhibition of football by both teams

CD 15-3
EG 8-6
At that stage of the game it appeared how far CD

CD 16-4
EG 14-8
At about the 10 min mark of the last qtr
With Symes/Gowans/Hayes perhaps short of a gallop it appeared that the EG might get up

CD good enough to win
Both sides impressed at various times

DUTSCHKE almost took the mark of the fortnight today
CALLINAN should poll well in the mag medal in this game

Lawry's best game at Centrals so far, he FINALLY seems to be playing as though he is now part of the team, if you know what I mean.

Statistically wasn't very good BUT his second, third and fourth efforts were absolutley brilliant.

Single handedly set up 2-3 goals on the back of his efforts at ground level. Wasn't outmarked all day despite having two to three Eagles players at most marking contest he managed to bring the ball to ground despite not being able to take the mark himself.

I think he took a massive step forward today (sounds funny considering he only kicked 1-2? goals) but he showed when things aren't going well for himself that his still willing to do all the 1%'s and team things.

Must admit he has the makings of a GEM.

I also thought it was Lawreys best game for a long time, but thought Hasers game after being out for over a month was brilliant.

The game was great with both teams having there moments but could not underdstand why Salter swapped with welsh when the Eagles were making there charge in the last Qtr also can not wait to see how Laird is going to get Schell,Havelberg,M Westoff and Gunston in the forward line when back from injuries/AFL duties,as the they will not automatically go into the backlines with Hardy,Lawry and Hayes playing well.

What a problem for Laird to have.

Also would like to say it was great to watch two good teams having a go and as an extra we had a comedy act in the umpiring fraternity giving us a show, did not favour either team but when will they learn to put the whistle away and just LET THEM PLAY.
