West End Flag comp

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Just goes to show you the sort of imagination West End Draught (ie Japanese Beer) drinkers have!

Now if the entry form was on a Carton of Coopers Pale Ale (ie South Australian Beer) you would have seen some imagination and quality!

Janine Atkins Klemzig Glenelg
Brenton Heading Parafield Gardens Norwood
David Antal Camden Park North Adelaide
Lee Barrow Little Hampton West Adelaide

Interesting that none of the winners live in the districts of their clubs! (unless is Greenwith in Centrals area?)

Northern Districts Baseball Club logo - have that with a dead Eagle or bulldog or whatever on the ground and the rooster looking over it.

Is that a baseball bat in its hand or is it just happy to see the other cock? :?

bay girl, I showed my 9yo daughter the flags, and I told her to ignore which team was which and pick what she thought was the best looking flag.
She chose the Glenelg flag. :D
(Just thought you'd like to know, she liked the way the background broke it up a bit)

hee hee! woo hoo! the idea behind the 'triangles' was black and gold rays coming from the tiger... my design was in coloured pencil (they computer generated them all) they didn't seem to be so dominate on my original flag... but i had a bigger tiger and they took 'thumby' off too... boo!

Now they have to be realistic. Anything but a bulldog should do it!

My unbiased opinion on the flags. Top 5
1 - South (striking, good contrast)
2 - Glenelg (bit retro but looks cool)
3 - Centrals (simple but good)
4 - Torrens (Colours good, eagle needs to be better)
5 - Norwood (just a good flag)
Last - Sturt (boring and lame)

Yes Wedgie my design was surpose to be a wolf. Sorry you didn't like it but I suppose we all have different tastes. They didn't change my design at all except for darker shading at the top and bottom of the head. I think calling everyones designs Stupid was a bit harsh. What did your flag design look like? Bay girl, why didn't you want to stand next to the Port chap at the photos?

Howdy mate, if you read my posts I actually praised you for being the most innovative but my issue is the West Adelaide emblem is a Blood not a wolf. It would be no different to putting a dragon or a snake on North's flag. (And yes I know you were the Wolves for a couple of years but the flag comp was this year not 20 years ago).
To be honest I think all the finalists deserve a huge trophy just for downing a carton of West End to enter it!

This problem, not knowing if we are a bloodhound with a bucket of tar and a paint brush or a wolf or a poodle, as many of my work-mates say we are at the moment, is a real pain in the bum but I couldn't come up with an aggressive looking bloodhound with a paint brush.
" Hey Mr Leahey, can we go get some cheese burgers?" You don't look like Bubbles really do you?  I love my Kitties!

Seriously though, well done on being innovative unlike the other efforts.
I'd like to see a red eyed blood hound but I don't know if it would be too insperational.

Nothing much Jimmy, just the age old port Vs everyone else story. Just a bit of fun. The port winner, Wolly, was a very nice bloke.
