Nothing wrong with that decision Jimmy. Looked like your standard run-of-the-mill holdng the ball to me...

He picked it up, took on the man in pursuit, and then got tackled while still holding the footy. BALL!

The fact he ran into the point post in between says more about his awareness (or lack thereof) than it says about the umpire...

He was tackled into the post and then had no chance to get rid of it.When he was deemed holding the ball , the Port player had it !!

Regardless , it's a crap rule.

The way I saw it he picked up the ball while running, turned around and the post was there, hit that and then tackled. I wouldn't have thought he had any real chance to get rid of it.

Me neither. Nor would I like him to collect me in the jaw, 50 metres behind the play...

Mercer was on song last night and took everything within reach. Mcintyre also looked the goods for sturts future.

Good to meet mickey and JK last night also at the unofficial SAFooty convention

Great to meet you too mate, same with Mickey and all the other lads and ladette.

Pretty entertaining game for a neutral supporter, enjoyed the night out (although paid for it today)

Incorrect, happened right in front of me and at best, ball up and Benefit of the doubt. Not surprised he got it wrong though, umpiring has wavered massively this year.

However, all plant had to do if he thought quick was just place the ball in an accidental manner against the post, then would have been a ball up.
