What's next Christmas Day?

There are only 2 days in the year when football games shouldn't be played and one of them isn't even in the season, surely they don't need to play on this sacred day. Even the AFL whores know better than to play on Good Friday.

I just hope that we never get drawn to play them. [-X

As a Christian, I'm all for it, and well done to South for getting their proposal approved.

For those that want to observe their religious beliefs, simple, don't go. Forcing your beliefs down someone else's throat will never have the effect you want it to have, but I'll digress from writing a sermon on here.

If Centrals end up playing South that night, then I can still go to a Good Friday service in the morning, enjoy the early arvo, then head on down to Noarlunga mid-arvo for the football.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

what people have got to remember that not every one has a religion. i for one think it is a positive move but it should be played in a more central location (adelaide oval maybe) it may attract more people to the footy.

who would have thought that playing footy on anzac would have worked, embrace it

i dont think anyone will burn in hell for playing footy on good friday

how would playing footy on Good Friday be any different than playing first class cricket on Christmas Day?

No, but I am entitled to my opinion as you are to yours. All I am saying is that I don't like it and making the point that not everyone is in favour of this decision and that should be OK.

B I agree with your point that beliefs shouldn't be forced down someone else's throat as you are correct with that thought.
I am disappointed that you advise "For those that want to observe their religious beliefs, simple, don't go." as that hardly seems fair as people with these beliefs then effectively have no choice whether to go to football or not. Simple if there isn't football on Good Friday then they don't have to choose. What's wrong with playing a night game (if you must) on the Thursday night ("Good Friday Eve").

Just because you believe in something (which is your right), why do others who don't, have to conform to your beliefs just for your benefit?

If I want to have a BBQ on Good Friday I will ... just because Catholics don't eat meat doesn't mean I have to abstain as well.

Seems to me Brucetiki is spot on ...
