Congratulations to the WWT club
An anniversary of sorts
19/9/61 was the day the SANFL invited the club to be in the League for the 1964 season

Can the Eagles beat the 1964 premier this week ?

Can't wait til next week & see South beat them & silence the jeolous Ronny Fuller critics.

And exactly how many games of League Footy did you play???

Anyone who calls any League Footballer 'soft' has no idea what it takes to play @ that level.

The Eagles efforts were disappointing but to say 'soft' leaves you with ZERO credibility!

Well, the Eagles are going to have to make some changes.

Toumpas, Rimington and Lane are probably the three who could come in.

Like LEH said, Petrenko should be in the guts, not on the wing. He was very good yesterday, but Fuller stayed wide a number of times when Petrenko went in for the ball and Norwood were able to clear through him. Toumpas plays the wing very well and I'd like to see Godden back him in to play this position. Luke Jarrad or Allmond to play the other wing.

Players I'd be seriously considering dumping for this week would be Tiller, Raymond or Treeby. Tiller and Treeby in particular looked very slow. Rimington probably adds a bit more bite than either of these guys playing that floating forward position. Treeby I'd consider using from the goal square as a leading forward - perhaps mixed up with Redden/Parry. Grocke and Staple need to be providing targets a bit further up the field and keeping the ball in the CHF area - at least initially.

My team:

F: Rimington Redden Allmond
HF: Staple Grocke Goldsworthy
C: Jarrad Powell Toumpas
HB: McKenzie Day Thompson
FB: Giuffreda Grieger Raymond
R: Parry Cicolella Petrenko
I: Rowntree Lewis Hall

Ronnie Fuller will be worth a few goals to South from the coaching box this week, with his knowledge of the Eagles. Plenty of romance in this game as everyone waits to see if South can keep going, but it will be a tough ask nonetheless this week for them.

1st Semi Final - Eagles v South @ AAMI Sun 25/9 @ 12:10pm

Postby The Sleeping Giant » Mon Sep 19, 2011 12:03 pm

No Mercy is correct in his review LEH. The Eagles were slow, soft and crumbled under pressure. Having said that, they will beat South this weak. ;)

If South do win though, Ron Fuller is a genius, and would be automatic pick for coach of the year, if he isn't already.

Now aware of who Mercy is... am happy to acknowledge his credentials... but,

It appears that these people have no problem with making 'sweeping statements' about fellow sportsperson's mental abilities... 1st Chris Dittmar re: Sam Stosur, now 'Mercy' re: ONE game of footy

I would contend that the Eagles performance was hindered by Norwood's dominance in the middle of the ground.
I stand by my comment that to call anyone 'soft' at this level is inappropriate - regardless of who you are.

The effort on Sunday was poor & they appeared disinterested, granted, but not soft.
They were made to appear ordinary by a very good & switched on team.

Again, based on the credentials of the person passing comment, I am surprised @ his assessment.

I'd like to see South go further into September but I expect the Eagles to fire up and bounce back after yesterdays poor performance.

Eagles will be very angry regarding their performance against Norwood and South will really miss Josh Thewlis and hopefully the tribunal will see sense and realise Mitch Sandery was a bump without intent. Eagles height a problem for South, South's pace may concern Eagles, final team line up will be important to South testing our depth in replacing Thewlis, Viede and possibly Sandery.

Not sure that it was without intent mate. Elbows to the head will catch you out every time. Being behind the play won't help him either. Not to mention being displayed for all on the big screen.

At least two games for mine, hope I am wrong 'tho as Mitch is a great bloke. :(

Problem is he didn't bump him.
