Well I give a stuff seeming as they are hitting good form and play us next.

Ummm....I thought we played you next ;)

The only thing interesting about this game is the free kick count. IIRC it was 27-10 the Eagles way at Oval Ave a few weeks ago, in what was a pretty close game. Evidence is building that one ump in particular might be a big fan of the Eagles..

Can't believe what the eagles dish up, Godden must be scratching his head.

Or were you just that good Smac?
A couple of mates reckon nobody would have got within 10 goals of the Dogs the way they played today

I thought we were okay, poor skills again but good at the pressure game.

The day started well when Powell won the toss and kicked in to the slight breeze...

Eagles had very few contributors and Central just worked harder as a team and had numbers at every contest. The first half was abysmal. The amount of 20m kicks that missed the flat footed Eagles player was terrible. Even more terrible was that even if the kick was on target, there was no real advantage to be had.

I thought Sumner was very good and Parry, Cica, Shirley and Giuffreda tried hard.

Will Godden stick with the players that have served him well in the past seasons? The short to medium term future is a real concern, something that hasn't been the case for over a decade.

Whist in the context of the season the result wasn't surprising, it was disappointing because the last two weeks showed the Eagles were far more capable than the effort they dished up today.

Norwood & Central clearly are a step ahead of West, who seem a step ahead of the rest of the competition.

Aerie, over the next couple of yeas, reckon our forward line and defence isn't looking too bad, especially if Salter gets delisted, but it is the midfield that is the real concern, especially with the way our twos are going.
Can't see Goldsworthy Hall or Kane becoming first-start midfielders, or Sumner moving in there.

An average effort by Central today. Although our defensive pressure was very good, our skills were somewhat disappointing at times, particularly in the first half. Luckily for us, the Eagles' skills were even worse! We finally got our game flowing a bit better in the last quarter and finally killed a side off. Great to see Pumpa play his first league game for the season (at least I think I am right in this) for us, even if his skills did look a bit rusty at times. Boydy put in another solid performance and appears to be a monty for the Best and Fairest at this stage. We have definitely also found something in Jed Lawton. He competes very well for the ball and has a very straight leg. It will be difficult to see who drops out of the side when Obst, Collier, Barmby, Hayes, Menzel and Nash return, not to mention possible returns of Sibenaler and James Gowans (just not sure if these two would be in the best 21 at the moment.. can never leave out a Gowza though!!)
As for the Eagles, sadly the less said the better - certainly not one of their better days. However, they are still only one game out of the five and are bound to improve on their performance today.
Cheers

We played garbage footy in the first half today. To finally win by the amount that We did is very encouraging, things are starting to fall into place. We should finish the year with the double chance at about 14 and 6, or 15 and 5.

bp2 That would be James Lawton. Jed is James' Father and played for Central from 1987 - 1988. :)

Was the other time when Glenelg played at Elizabeth in the final round a few years back, when the weather was thoroughly feral?

I think their score today was their lowest ever against Us, the previous lowest being the 4.4 they kicked against Us in the 2004 Grand Final.

Correct mate.

4th September 2010

Central - 7.8 = 50

Glenelg - 3.7 = 25

That was as rough as I have seen the weather out at Elizabeth in the 20 years I've been going out there...
