Lane is a real worry. He is one of these guys who has peaked yet this 'peak' is so far below league standard its isn't funny. Allmond can replace him but needs to gain touch in the reserves before his elevation. I'd rather try Appleton up there. He can't go any worse and at least he will get exposed to league standard.

Tough what to do with Fitzgerald. Every time he plays he does well but it seems the preferene at the moment is for Staple, Ainger and Grocke up forward. I'd be worried that Grocke's kicking might actually give away goals if he plays back and his aggressive nature could cost us free kicks and shots on goal. I'd be more included to swap Fitzgerald for Staple. The latter simply doesn't do enough.

I've got a feeling we will see Mitchell this week as well. The Power could well include either of Gray or Cassisi which could be a loss for Westies. Usually the substiute i.e Mitchell will miss out. We would welcome him. So maybe he could also be the option to replace Lane. Not quite sure what to do with Ellis-Yolman. I just don't see him taking any one position and owning it. He is probably a bit too small to play a key position and not quick enough to be a midfielder. He does useful things but I just can't see him settling into any one spot. He kind of reminds me of former Eagle and Crow Andrew Crowell in his versatility yet just can't stamp his authority on any one position.

Possible inclusions for this week are: Zac Fitzgerald, Chris Kane, Jarred Allmond. Can anyone think of someone else that should be added to that list.

As previously mentioned, suggest Appleton should be considered, but cant see a real reason not to reward the 21 that responded to the coaches commands at Half-Time.
I'd assume the only change would be if we are handed Mitchell or Patrenko back or both?

I forgot about Petrenko. He had a shocker for the Crows the other week and would be a possibilty to be dumped back to us. I;m sure we will see one of them and Lane will be the fall-guy. Unfortunately Fitzgerald will probably stay in the reserves until either Ainger/Grocke/Staple gets injured or Day continues last year's shocking form.

But agreed you have to reward the guys who responded after half time.

Westies will miss Crouch who is an absolute ball magnet, but still look strong with the AFL Listed inclusions of Cassisi, Gray and Laird. This could be a very tight contest.

Crouch a big loss for us but we bat deep on our mids. My hope this year is that the signs of improvement in Daniel Webb really kick in and he becomes a genuine forward target. Could be the most improved player in the comp.
I hope the other posters are right and Grocke does play down back, he is much less of a concern to Westies there. Day, Culley etc. don't really cut it as key defenders, so hopefully we can get a dominant forward.

West at $2.10 is a steal!!

It's been a long, long time since the Bloods took the 2 points away from Woodville Oval. I'm predicting the Eagles to extend that streak to 9 in a row.

Pretty happy with Aaron Day back there. I assume "etc" means Thompson, Raymond and Giuffreda. They go ok.

Byron is a quality player. Would love to see him really step up and put his mark on the competition this year.

Didn't include him as he isn't likely to play on the taller forwards but his ability to run from defence will be pretty important tomorrow.

Don't know about "not cutting it" but fair enough for an opposition supporter to underestimate our defence without Greiger and Macca there anymore. Day and Raymond have been inconsistent over the last couple years, Thompson has leveled off, Giuffreda looks awkward but is usually effective, and Culley's a bit of an unknown outside the club but started to really show a bit at the end of last year.
