I believe that next week will give us a true indication where the Dogs are at. Ugly win today but a win never the less. Tore the game open in the third quarter after nulifying West for 2 quarters. Dogs by 2 points next week keeping the double chsnce alive.

Enjoyed my first game for the year out at the Ponderosa.

Both teams lacked a target up front but Dogs too good all over the ground.

Resurgent Bulldogs can smell the finals after 30-point win over West Adelaide

THERE is a smell of finals in the air again at Central District.

The Bulldogs guaranteed themselves a spot in the major round and made a statement on the competition with a convincing 30-point victory over West Adelaide at Elizabeth on Saturday.

And a top three finish and the crucial double chance in the finals is within reach.

They are just a game behind third-placed North Adelaide with three rounds remaining and they have played a game less.

The loss has put a top three spot at risk for the Bloods and they are now just percentage above the Bulldogs.

This was a performance of substance from the Bulldogs and the margin flattered the visitors, who had 15 less scoring shots and were exposed for a lack of firepower in attack with a scoreless third quarter.

Fred, you will need a few % boosters to make the top 3. West have a half decent run home with superior %.

Damo, you could always do us a favour and beat the Eagles in the last round. If Norwood also beat the Eagles then the Eags finish on 12 wins. Their percentage is quite catchable with games against Glenelg and Sturt to come for the Dogs. With North's form in recent rounds, it is quite possible Glenelg could get over the top of them next week. North's other match is against Norwood. That would see North finish on 11 wins.
Alternatively, if Central win their last three (Norwood, Glenelg and Sturt) they are virtually assured of the double chance.

Let's face it the Footy Gods will now be on our side and the Karma bus will get the other 4 in contention. I think we can win it from 5th just for something different

Well, looking at the run home for the four sides in contention for the double chance:

Eagles - Norwood and West (quite conceivable they would win neither - likely result, zero or one wins: results in 12 or 13 wins for the season)
North: Glenelg and Norwood (likely to win one: results in 12 wins)
West: Port, South and Eagles (likely to win 2 or 3: results in 12 or 13 wins)
Central: Norwood, Glenelg and Sturt (likely to win 2: results in 12 wins)

If West beat the Eagles, it is highly likely Central will finish on top of the Eagles, provided they beat Glenelg and Sturt by at least 5 goals each.
All it would take for a top three position then is for either Central to beat Norwood or for Glenelg to beat North.
If Central beat Norwood, then for them to miss out on a top three position they would need Norwood to lose to both North and the Eagles.

Cheers

As a coach when your football team is beaten you search for answers. Today the answer was quite simple in that we were outplayed. Centrals run and skill was too much for our group to handle. Their key players in Thomas/Symes/Boyd/Ohara got way too much football. Their backline was disciplined and their forwards worked hard in the key areas to receive the ball.

Our defence was under pressure with their midfielders getting forward way too easily against ours. Their ruck dominance was difficult to handle.

Today our forwards had limited supply with only 32 inside 50’s and even when we went forward it lacked the necessary control.

Overall it was a very disappointing day for all of us.

Coming off a couple of victories and the Foxtel Cup, I was deeply concerned about today and my intuition was right. We must bounce back quickly.

Note: Just on a side issue I wish to comfort you all by explaining that I do not listen to music during a game. I am communicating with Ben Watkins (my Assistant Coach) through our phones. It has been a silly joke that I was telling people for a little fun but recently I think some supporters have taken it all a little serious. ......Maybe today I should have listened to some.

Regards,
Andrew Collins

[quote="Mark_Beswick"]We were slow (footspeed and in movement)

Thought Glenn and Symes were outstanding. Think you boys may be without glenn next year - Got some class!
The scoreboard was flattering to my side - Thank goodness you missed so many shot although the wind did make goalkicking flukey.

Hope you guys get up next

Josh Glenn may well be in a power Guernsey next year Healy was more than impressed with him on sat and I believe numbers have been exchanged I know josh is happy that a Adelaide club has shown interest after he has denied about 6 clubs from over the boarder...
