STRONG CHANCE
Andrew Collins

GOOD CHANCE
Darren Trevena
Andrew Jarman
Kym Cobb
Tony Bamford

NO CHANCE
James Gowans
Chris Gowans
Peter German
Old Man Potts
Jarrod Cotton
Pilmore
Gary Ayres
Mark Williams
Trent Mills
Kris Massie

The problem i have with Collins is his game style wouldnt attract spectators to the drive in. Some south supporters will say who cares if we are winning. Maybe a fair point.
Andrew Jarman will be very theatrical, and that could be a good thing for South. I am not sure he will have the hard nose approach that may be required though.
Darren Trevena could be the one. He knows the club, he has now been at 2 AFL clubs, so he may be able to bring whats needed. Untried as a senior coach though

I'm the same Slots. If South's job description fits what Collins is looking for and the Money is in the ball park then he is in the box seat.

Probably next in line is yesterday's coach. Is still in touch with modern football, he still plays in the 2's at Edwardstown when he can, Played a reserves game at South Adelaide when coaching the u/18's and schedule permitted.

South could do a lot worse than Darren Mead. Was a very good coach at the Magpies until the knives came out from above. The reserves played much better football than the league team wet did under Bamford. Port would have been in a better state if it was Bamford that got the sack rather than Mead.

Totally disagree. I know a fair bit of what went on at the time and Tony was the right option. He didnt have the success that we have been starved off, but it wasnt through his coaching.

Personally I think if Collins wants the job it his.
Can understand a few comments about a negative game style, but old Southies like me could not give a flying f--- what it looks like if we can get into the finals on a regular basis.
Your talking to a supporter group that have not tasted success for 50 years....

Other candidates mentioned...
Kym Cobb...top bloke, passionate and a southie.....but not sure hes what we need, an outsider maybe the go.
Tony Bamford......apparently good with youngsters has experience at sanfl.... maybe..
Andrew Jarman.....forget it.
Darren Trevena.... former South player, AFL development coach experience.....maybe..

Whatever it was that Darren did wrong, it wasn't anything on field, and having spoken to a few former players about it, it wasn't from lack of support from his players.

There aren't many port supporters who agree with some of the player sackings; or think the recruiting of plodders in the midfield was a good idea; or who had to sit through our hopeless chip chip turnover slow moving game plan ,were disappointed to see Bamford go.

He was a great servant to our club for many years, but he was kept around too long.

I don't care who coaches us as long as we bloody win some games!!!! Never seen a season where we won more than we lost. Best was 2006 when we won 10 lost 10.

We must re-sign our gun players otherwise it won't matter who coaches us next year we will struggle!!!!!

Southie, if you had to watch the west style of play week after week, you would be like a lot of Westies old diehards, most of them stay home now, because its not a game of football anymore, its just a pack of players moving from one spot to the other with a ball in there somewhere. I went and watched the Foxtel Cup final, it was the biggest crap game i had seen in a long time, yep, they won the bickies, but if the game continues in the same vein then the game has no future. Let the AWFUL wreck their competition, at least we will still have a competition to look forward to.

Not sure you are correct about a lot of old Westies diehards stay home now. I would say we have more members now than when Collins started coaching us and I know all the Bloods supporters I have spoken to have said they would like Collins to continue.

I wouldn't worry about Collins coaching South as I very much doubt he will.
