How are Eagles/ North fans feeling?

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby mighty_tiger_79 » Tue Sep 12, 2006 11:27 am

as an outsider looking in,

south have pace and fire-power up forward to trouble all other finals teams.

port are gone

north need there forwards firing and i think would like to play on a nice dry surface

central - the most physical team and will worry the top two

eagles - they have been brilliant all year but in previous years in the minor round they have succumbed at the final hurdle...... is this the year of the eagle. maybe it will be if they dont face central or south.

Maybe a majority of the supporters will be shitting themselves because of the thug like fear factor your supposed feral supporters put into the other teams supporters. Lets see how many dickhead centrals fans turn up just looking for a fight like always? Now cue that nerdy dickhead campbell mackinnon who would be now polishing his soap box for a vitriolic defence of the well behaved and misunderstood centrals fans at this point.

I think the bye this week will prove to be a signiifcant advantage to the Eagles. I also believe that, providing they all play, the Eagles' midfield is far superior to NA's and CD's. South will cause some damage early on - perhaps even the PF - but they are not good enough to win the GF from the Elimination Final. Port not good enough full-stop.

Yeah the bye is a significant advantage - it means 1 round of finals that they are guaranteed not to lose.

Well beleive be, after the stick from the last half a dozen years - I'd settle for one flag!

I've seen a great Eagles side over the last 6 years - without any grand final success to show for it.

Would agree with you there Dissident.

Ok heres my two cents worth
South should easily account for Port even with what Tim has been saying on the telly.
Centrals and North hopefully they bash each other to pieces in their game .North are a great attacking side but their downfall maybe their denfensive side as shown by the EAGLES in their last two encounters .Centrals this year have not been their normal dominant self but this is finals so I can not and will not write them off !!
To me the two sides to worry about are South and Centrals, but a side with a decent backline may stop South not sure with Centrals if they start fighting on field or are late in their tackles they will give away a huge amount of frees which may tell against them as it has in games I have seen them play in this year .

But everyone is forgetting the EAGLES last minor round game we got Macgregor from the crows, and as we Eagles fans know when an AFL team is playing in the finals their afl listed players can still play for their sanfl team the case being DEW for centrals against us he killed us .So this week in the two's who will make a comeback Burton,Skipworth,Knights or will they pop up in our first finals appearance . :D
And yes I know we can not rely on afl listed players but it is something for the other teams fans to think about ,which EAGLES players will run out in our first final .
Cheers
have a good one guys

Good post mickyj but I would love to see all the AFL listed Eagles run out in their first final especially those non fringe players so the SANFL only listed Eagles players who got the job done all season can play ressies  . Yep lets see those regulars in Bock, Skipworth, Shirley, Burton, McGregor etc all line up. No surer way of pissing of blokes on $300 bucks a week who train 5 times a week to see those stars come back and take their place.

What if the Eagles league and ressies were not in the finals? Those AFL players neading a run would have to just train like the South league fringe players who don't have a ressies side in the finals so they just have to train with the squad - they have nowhere to have a run? It is an absurd rule that allows blokes who have not played for years for their SANFL club to have a run in the finals to keep up fitness.

Sorry Coorong I was only having some fun and I am not a brain surgeon so my grammar is not the best.

And BPBRB I would prefer for the EAGLE boys to run out onto the field ,and not the AFL players. BUT like in the FINAL when DEW played for centrals because the POWER were still playing ,why not follow suit . Or in other words what is good for the goose is good for the gander .

Mickyj, are you referring to the 2000 finals when Dew played? If so, you will find that it was not a result of the Power still playing. The AFL season had already been completed at the time of our Grand Final. Stuey only played in finals for us because he had played more than three matches during the season.
Cheers!

Quietly confident going into this years finals series. Certailnly more so than previous years. With AFL experienced players aplenty coming back into the side, a weeks break in the first week things are looking good for the Eagles.
