Jeremy Clayton beat South By himself in the first half.
Stevie Kenna and Alwyn Davey beat PA all day.

DAVEY had to be BOG. for the full match he chased down blokes and he ran hard and a long way on some occassions to put the added pressure on PORTS players. he did well in those 1%ers and it would have been very very hot out in the middle under the sun!

Both teams were undiscliplined in the first half. South had a few players not putting in the hard yards required in September (Hateley and Neagle to name a couple). By the end of the second quarter, I felt South started to show some promising signs and similar to the Woodville Oval game earlier this year, expected them to come back. They dominated all over the ground in the 2nd half and will be a danger to North next week if they play like that and North play the way they did today. Port lack skill and a couple of their players (Waterhouse and J Clayton) seem to have costly brain fades regularly.

Could not understand Ginever in the last quarter not dragging Waterhouse when he couldn't be bothered chasing Carlile and Carlile kicked the goal. Even stranger was that within 2 minutes Watherhouse replied with a goal and Port were a sniff. So then he drags Waterhouse and brings on a ruckman who lined up on the wing at the centre bounce, Port get the clearance, but then the unmarked South defender takes the easy mark, which Waterhouse would've contested if he left him on and it's game over. Port played dumb football today.

I knew the Panthers were gonna win at 3/4 time when I was watching the huddles with my trusty opera glasses. AS soon as they got to their huddle every one of the South boys started hydrating, they grabbed water/gatorade or whatever and there were plenty of people with wet towels to cool the boys down. In the Port huddle there was only a few players that bothered even though there were drinks available. In the last 1/4 of a game in that heat they were obviously gonna run out of puff.

Ginever had a dirty day today. Lacked imagination in the coaches box and just failed to make any moves.

Morrison has barely had a kick in the past two months, same again today but was kept in the forward lines. IN the 2nd half when the ball just kept rebounding out of our half forward line he should have thrown AhChee forward. At least he reads the play and is the best contested mark we have. Move Morrison down back. Throw Meiklejohn at Full Forward...put Clive on a wing. Get Poulton out of the bloody forward line where he didnt have a kick in the 2nd half.

The fact he failed to make any move at all was one of the reasons we ended up losing.

Subsitute Jarman in that line and that sums up his coaching and not for the first time.

I think we were screwed no matter what Tim did. We were absolutely run off our feet. Mark Clayton seemed to lose a lot of run after hurting his ankle early in the second quarter, and in the second half, all we did was chase Souths quicks. Souths backline got on top, and created so much run. Poulton hasn't been too bad up forward in the last couple of weeks, providing a hard working target, but today was pretty ineffective. Kyle Jenner had a shocker, and Slats ran hard, but fumbled too much. Clive absolutely worked his ass off all day, probably didn't get the rewards he deserved. At least he didn't get reported!!! Looby showed how good a player he is going to be, backs himself everytime, runs hard and kicks long to a player on the lead, hits him on the tits every time. Dolling was up and down all day, showed plenty of attack on the ball, but his disposal was poor, usually its his strong point. Morrison was as good today as he has been for the last 8 weeks (exception being the Sturt match at Alberton). Cam Illet was brilliant in the first half, but fell away in the second half, something he's done regularly recently. Would have been good to have Lindsey Thomas today, could have done with his pace.

Finally, Jeremey Clayton. Absolute champion. Easily in the top 3 players Ive ever seen play live. Some of his marks today were exceptional. Also a few bad turnovers, a 25m penalty, and an 80m penalty, but you get that from him. Sadly, it could be the last time we see him don the black and white guernsey, and if so, it will be a huge loss to not only the Port Adelaide Football Club, but the SANFL as a whole.

When does the cricket start?!?
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

This match was just a classic game of football. North better not underestimate this Panthers side, from late in the 2nd onwards they were magnificent. Jeremy Clayton er, I mean, Port Adelaide were magnificent before that. His goal in the 2nd where he recovered the ball and snapped a goal in lightning fashion was as good as a goal I've seen this year.

And it was great to catch up with Macca19 today. 8) Your review is spot on and concise as usual. :)
