After finishing third in 2012, North lost 6 including 5 of their first 6 in their best and fairest and improved to second in 2013. The 6 were Bennett, Alleway, Allan, Currie, Clisby and Mayes.

Norwood apparently lost about 10 or 12 of their 2013 premiership before the 2014 season began and still won the flag.

Only team to ever have 6 drafted in one season I believe


That wasn't the point I was trying to make, more to do with salary cap etc

You can't recruit players when you are struggling for funds and you give the premiership players a pay rise
We lost 6 in the draft.
Homburg, Brind and Anderson all played in the prelim and have not been seen this year and probably won't be....
We also lost 3 or 4 second tier players....
And then gun players who just aren't fit!!!
That is why we will will finish bottom or close to it

Can you guys tank for at least another match. We have struggled recently.

It wasn't surprising when they started 2014 with a 3-5 record after eight rounds, but eventually got it together.

Fantasia was another one lost to the draft that year

Pretty impressive effort for the Redlegs to keep a strong team together on the field despite those considerable player losses over a long period.

Well you'd have to compare it with the current most crap premiership defence.
What was Glenelg's average losing margin in 1935? At the moment you're leading Westies by one win. But it's still early in the season.

Okay, so West have one win and percentage to make up on the Glenelg side of 1935.

It would be good if we had some sort of premiership table that shows the ten most crap premiership defenders from over the years.
West would then have some idea of how many games they would need to win in order to work their way up the list.

I think Sturt might possibly have an entry for the most crap premiership defence premiership table.
1977, the year after we smashed Port in the 1976 Grand Final, we finished 7th. That might possibly earn us a place on the table.

In 1984, West finished 6th, that might not be bad enough to get them a place in the worst ten, but I cannot think of many others off the top off my head.

Westies ' unexpected win over North has thrown wide open the greatest premiership hangover crown. I think they are still grasping the title on percentage from Glenelg, but any more wins like last week will see them blow any chance of eclipsing a record that had stood for about 8 decades.
