Ummm, Glenelg only re-signed Lokan a few weeks ago for 2 more years. Given the club's financial position, they won't be paying him out to try someone who's never coached & just left the MFS due to the heavy workload/better money that a media career is offering.
Onto the game, it was a case of South obviously thinking they'd come out after halftime & it would be a stroll in the park. They'd dominated a fair bit of the first 2 qtrs and a 10 goal win was a distinct possibility. But Glenelg's pressure at the ball lifted & tackles started sticking. There were at least 3 occasions where South players pulled out* of a ball to be won or heard footsteps in a marking contest - all due to Glenelg's pressure. The Bay's sensed this & kept at them which turned the game on its head.
To hold one of the apparent "contenders" to one major after halftime (also the first one which took them out to a 26 pt lead) and then keep them goalless in the final qtr when they had the aid of a 4 goal breeze was a gutsy effort & just makes me wonder where this effort was against West & North.
Anyways, The Bay's led all stats & we're good for the win. Joseph won the medal for BOG in the Carey-Darley Cup, but it could've gone to a few others like McFarlane who I thought was best, Earl, Sawford & Scott.
