Yet the only report I can see from the game is James Boyd for striking.

Thugs indeed.

Boyd didn't break his arm. He got a fractured collar bone being dumped behind play.

Admit to having more than a passing interest in this game.....so what did "hard ball gets"" Boyd do to get reported..?
anything to do with Joseph and a cut eye or was that another incident?

Big decision to challenge if he is out injured anyway. He was targeted during the match with no sympathy from the umpires. James plays a hard game but week in and out our small James, Gus Poole and Lauchie McGregor get smashed by opponents.

Woodville-West Torrens midfielder James Boyd will challenge a one-match ban with an early guilty plea for striking Glenelg’s Josh Woodall at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval on Sunday.

The SANFL Incident Review Panel deemed Boyd’s conduct was intentional and that he made contact to Woodall’s body which was of low impact.

Boyd risks a 2 match ban, due to a bad record, if he is unsuccessful at the SANFL Tribunal from 6pm on Tuesday.

JAMES BOYD (EAGLES) – STRIKING
Conduct: Intentional
Impact: Low
Contact: Body
Penalty (Bad Record Loading): 2 matches
Early Guilty Plea: 1 match

Listening to Michael Godden on SANFL soundcloud. He says very diplomatically that the Eagles were "challenged physically and the Eagles are not happy with as a footy club". "the opportunity to retaliate this close to finals was not there.

Why would he challenge if he is out injured anyway and is a possibility to return from injury for the Semi Final? Is this purely because of the Magarey or is he absolute no chance of returning from injury for the 2nd week of finals anyway, in which case they might as well?

Not sure how many suspensions he had during his career. Godden says he will be out 4-10 weeks with injury.

Was just going through the Reports page on the SANFL site to see if his appeal was successful - not even mentioned. Was ineligible already anyway after being reported in round 7 - "Accepted a $200 fine and reprimand with an early guilty plea for engaging in rough conduct with Glenelg's Josh Woodall." I'm getting the feeling that these two don't like each other.
As an aside, I notice that Kane Mitchell has been reported three times this season - is this part of turning him into a tagger?

Not sure it is that one. Heard rumour it was not very clear on video, and was surprised it was put up to tribunal. Think the SANFL just wanting to stitch this kid up, and the Bays, for how they went about it on the weekend. They were not impressed. Expect Lokan to use similar tactics against Sturt this week, and like Eagles, they can't retaliate as they have finals to play. The umps did pay several soft free kicks to Boyd after half time, probably just a bit too late.
