Thanks for your opinion EHL.

In which other games do you think he will poll then? We are happy to amend the table if you come up with good evidence that we should do so. But if Cicolella and Inkster tie for the win, and McKenzie also gets over 10, then that doesn't leave many votes for all the other Eagles!

McKeznie has had an outstanding year, just like last year, but I don't think he is the type of player to catch the umpires eyes.

He did poll 9 votes last year but Cicolella and Inkster would be more noticeable.

I have looked at the Eagles year again and this is my opinion on how the Eagles games votes should look like:

Rnd 3 2 1
1 Lonie Howard Ryswyk
2 Douglas Moore McKenzie
3 McKenzie Bailey Vince
4 Treeby Passador McKenzie
6 Stevens Clayton McKenzie
7 Vince Cicolella Lindsay
8 Cicolella Inkster Knights
9 Cicolella Skipworth Knights
10 Jarrad Lindsay Archard
11 Inkster Moore Cicolella
12 Lindsay Inkster Culpitt
14 Inkster Cicolella Passador
15 Colville Inkster McKenzie
16 Passador Cicolella Westbrook
17 Inkster Cicolella Welsh
18 Thewlis Sampson Wright
19 Skipworth Inkster Grocke
20 Cicolella Inkster Knights
22 Lomas Powell Cicolella
23 Lindsay McKenzie Jarrad

This would make the final Eagles magarey medal tally look like this:

Player Votes
Cicolella 19
Inkster 19
McKenzie 9
Lindsay 9
Passador 6
Skipworth 5
Vince 4
Jarrad 4
Treeby 3
Knights 3
Colville 3
Lomas 3
Powell 2
Westbrook 1
Grocke 1
91

I'm not really sure what to say.

I put Feast in for 2 votes in Round 23 because he was all over the ground; clearly Sturts' best. I'm not sure if people will agree with you or me if I took out other votes at this stage.

Hey it was only my opinion - take it or leave it. I won't be offended.

That's ok then. :)

Because I can see someone having a go at me if I took out someone and put in someone else - any team, any match.

This was just an exercise to see how close the actual votes will get to this. 8)

That's just it - we are just predicting like anyone can. Will be interesting to see tonight how close we all are though, and then if the umpires think differently we will just say that they have no idea, just as everyone does anyway.

Heath Younie will poll more than 8 votes. Was clearly BOG in two games this year, and had half a dozen other games where he should be in the top 3 on the day. I think he will top the votes at North.

When i saw NA this year, about 6 times Ivens was very good, could he get up near to the winning total???

I thought he could of won the thing last year, but didn't poll too well if I recall correctly. I standby to be corrected. After all that, I don't think anyone from North will win the thing.

My tip - Kenna. South are due to win something.

Who I don't want to win - Chad Sullivan. If he gets up, we will never hear the end of it from a certain poster. And said poster wouldn't buy anyone a drink even after getting money on at 100/1.

As long as you buy the drinks when I post a loss.
No chance?
Thought so.

In Black are my predictions that I posted on here a few days ago.
In Red are the actual Magarey votes with some comments. I hope this isn't too difficult to read?

In summary, there were 2 games (vs Norwood in Rounds 1 and 10) where Backwell polled votes unexpectedly, but there was also the round 17 game vs Port when he was very unlucky to miss out on votes.

R1 vs Nwd: 1 McConnell (Fisher is the other one with a chance)
Votes given: 2 Backwell  he wasn't in the Advertiser best player list, 6th best only for Glenelg according to the coaches, and 0 out of 17 Snouts voted him best for Glenelg
R2 vs Eag: 3 Douglas, 2 Moore (but this was an even one - Logan, Backwell Panozzo also chances)
Votes given: 3 Moore 2 Mitchell 1 Sherwood. Mitchell and Sherwood are surprises - 7th and 8th best in the Advertiser, and Sherwood not in GFC coaches best players list, but there weren't any real standouts in this game so fair enough.
R3 vs CD: 3 Backwell, 2 Rogers, 1 Fisher (Smith, McConnell Douglas also chances)
Votes given 3 McConnell 2 Backwell 1 Rogers. This isn't surprising due to McConnell's flashiness, but he wasn't in the GFC coaches best players.
R5 vs NA: 2 Logan (he was clearly our best)
No Glenelg votes - fair enough, North were the better team.
R6 vs SA: 3 Fisher 1 Backwell (Logan, Moore are the other chances)
Votes given: 2 Fisher. Fair enough, this was a close game
R7 vs WA: 3 Douglas, 2 Backwell, 1 Logan (this is fairly clear)
Votes given: 3 Douglas 2 Backwell 1 Logan. Exactly the same! As I said, this was an easy one to judge who was best.
R8 vs PA: - (Fisher is the only one with an outside chance)
Votes given: none as predicted
R9 vs St: 2 Backwell (Cranston, Logan other chances)
3 Backwell 1 Hinge Yep, Backwell was our best, and we should have won this infamous game, so fair enough. Hinge is a bit surprising though, no Snouts gave him any votes.
R10 vs Nwd: 3 Logan 2 Smith 1 Sherwood Fisher next best
3 Logan 2 Backwell 1 Sherwood. Mouse's votes here are questionable - not in GFC or Advertiser best player list and only a sprinkling of votes on Snouts despite having 30 possessions. 5 of these were ineffective though, and this was the only game in 2006 where he had zero tackles.
R11 vs Eag: 2 Moore (our best by a mile)
3 Moore Had a career high 38 possessions and played the best I have seen him ever, so fair enough he got the 3 even though we lost.
R12 vs CD: - (no chance)
Correct!
R13 vs NA: - (possibly Clarke or McConnell if they are feeling generous)
1 Backwell Another surprising one as we were really outplayed, although Mouse got 39 possessions. Maybe all the umpires could see in the mud were his gold boots? :?
R15 vs SA: 3 Backwell 2 Graham (next best McConnell but he could easily poll too)
3 Backwell 2 Moore Surprising that they rated Moore ahead of Graham and McConnell, but he was in our best players.
R16 vs WA: 3 McConnell 2 Backwell 1 Douglas (this was quite clear)
3 McConnell 2 Backwell 1 Gibbs. 1 to Gibbs is surprising although he was named 6th best by the club.
R17 vs PA: 3 Gibbs 2 Backwell 1 Moore (this was clear too - probably Gibbs' only votes for Glenelg)
3 Gibbs 2 Moore 1 McConnell. 40 Possessions to Backwell and almost everyone gave him 2nd behind Bryce's 6 goals, so why didn't he poll?
R18 vs Nwd: 3 Backwell 2 McConnell (possibly also Mitchell, Cranston, Allen)
3 Backwell 2 McConnell 1 Mitchell Almost the same, Mitchell was widely regarded as our 3rd best.
R19 vs St: 3 Kirkby 2 Backwell 1 Allen (other chances: Mitchell, McConnell?)
3 Backwell 2 Mitchell 1 Kirkby. Allen does the hard in and under stuff, so not surprising the umpires didn't notice him. Kirkby should have polled more after having 11 marks, 5 goals from CHF.
R20 vs NA: 2 Duldig (Backwell a chance as well)
3 Backwell. It was a close game, so the votes could have gone either way, and Mouse was named best by the club after getting 47 possessions! So fair enough.
R22 vs CD: - (no chance but Smith and Backwell were our best)
Correct
R23 vs SA: - (let's forget about this one!)
Correct

What threw the Eagles votes out a bit was that Cooper polled 3 BOGs'. Surprised me a little.

Yep, god bless the Snouts, the Bays players luv 'em and they were stoked that I was there representing the Snouts tonight, hence the pics with Mouse and McConnell.
Seriously, besides Luke Ivens I spent more time talking to officials of clubs, it was great to meet CD for the first time, a lovely bloke.
The only players besides Lukey I chatted to were Mouse, McConnell and Sherwood.
All absolutely top lads.
Actually I lie, I did talk to Squizzy later on in the night and a couple of Sturt lads, probably talked to a few others but too pissed to remember.
Everyone was great.
Bed is overrated.
Bloody Eagles and Central players suck, they weren't out with the rest of us when the sun came up, you'd think they had an important game coming up or something!
