He played well. Our loss, but the reason he left us is no longer a factor, so I'm looking forward.

Well a case could be said for him returning home his old man played for west torrens when I was a lad :D Always happy to have sons play for our club

Be fair to say that a team of ex Westies players last year may have knocked off Westies!

Another huge turnaround of players this year, they really should look at giving their juniors a go instead of trying to recruit a winning side!

Ins:
Peter Walsh
Simon McCormick
Jackson Barling
Ben Dray
Lenny Clark
Dean Galea
James Ezard
Heath Commane
Matthew Barber
Jeremy Rowe
Michael Hooper
Jesse Smith
Damian Cupido
Luke Buckland

Outs:
Ben Haynes
Mark Miller
Ryan O'Sullivan
Adrian Bonaddio
Ben Newberry
Ben Venning
Lance Oswald
Kyle Archibald
Chris Schmidt
Scott Lewis
Chalres Slattery
Matthew Illman
Andrew Purchase
Phil Bourne

r&b, any idea where Illman is going? If I was him I'd head straight back to basketball, he'd be in a starting 5 NBL club these days if he stuck with it, silly boy.

I believe there is a certain pic doing the rounds, involving a certain "poster" giving David Strooper a man-cuddle...

Whoever he is, he needs to give himself an uppercut!!!!! :x :x :x
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Lists like that can be very misleading, Wedgie, as you know.

Only 3 of the 'outs' played consistent league footy last year - Haynes, Slattery and O'Sullivan. Most of the others either played more Reserves than League, or played a lot of Reserves. One didn't play a League game and one played one game. It would be a similar story at most clubs.

We'd like to play more of our juniors, but like Chris Schmidt, they're mostly playing AFL. Even so, we'll no doubt have several of our own juniors in the team - Buckley, Hutchins, Caire, Bricknell, etc. Yes, I saw your 'wink', but I like to repeat these facts :D

As for Illman, I think he retired from League footy and might play locally, if at all. I went to the Sixers for the first time a couple of weeks ago and you're right, he probably would get a game.

It's a touch off topic, but I see that Adam Heuskes has apparently joined Encounter Bay in Great Southern League. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts before his interest wanes...a real shame, because he CAN play without any doubt at all, but (allowing for injuries), his attention span tends to wander fairly quickly.

On to the topic - Wes Fellowes would have to be up there early in the 80's at Port. Aaron Shattock also looked very disinterested at times last year.

Yeah, someone brought it up on the Roost recently but his interest never waned when he was at North, his body just completely gave out and I can attest to that seeing the poor bugger walking to his car after his last game at Woodville not even being able to have a shower or get changed out of his footy gear. His attitude at North was fantastic and have gave way more than 100% when at the club.

Interesting that in The Boots and All column from which you snaffled this info....Heuskes career finished at Brisbane when retiring as he was a "bad influence". Port Adelaide anyone?

Worst recruit ever. Pffft.

Give me a player list from Sturt between 1989 and 1995 and I could name 40 more. At least Crowell didnt play wearing a toupee.

Add Luke Harrowfield to the "outs"

In terms of the Magpies i think probably the worst recruit was Hayden Kluver. Nice bloke, was on Brisbanes list, played pro baseball in the US, was built like anything, was quite quick for his size. Sounds great....he just couldnt find the football. Just could not get near the ball at all.

From the Panthers I'd have to say galloping Gordon Gatti. Played in a headband to keep the long hair back, old-fashioned ankle-high footy boots and had absolutely no idea. Looked like Tarzan, played like Jane.
