What details can you give on the project player BPBRB? Has he played any footy before, age etc?

To be honest all I know is that he has played mainly basketball all his life, he is early 20's (I think) and I believe he played some junior footy.

Apparently has a great leap and has a good size about him but if your 6ft 9 in or so you have the potential to be quite handy - even if he adds depth to the ressies for awhile doing a bit of ruckwork in the square (hand to the ball at that height and with a good leap), then you plonk him in the forward pocket for awhile - gotta be good for a grab or two and a couple of goals.

Who knows how he will turn out but worth a try - His path reminds me a bit of Mike Parsons when Nunan snared him from basketball in the early 80's and look how he turned out , a reasonable player overall after people scoffed and laughed about getting a basketballer.

Geezus, it'll be quite scary for the selection panel if we have some AFL players to fit in that and dont suffer the injuries we did last year!

I wouldnt think Hart will play @ CHB - only if you have to squeeze him in though !!!

Norths supporters, on paper you are outright favourites from centrals and the eagles,,,, With the talent in that squad nothing short of grand final appearance can possibly be acceptable!!!!!!!!!

I tend to agree, although I hate January premierships and the ruck still concerns me without Huddo. Certainly appears to be more depth this year with the kids that were exposed to it last year. We didn't lose as many to the draft as expected and still recruited further experience.

We start where we finished last year 3rd behind the Eagles and Centrals and rightly so. Centrals have picked up 2 real quality recruits amongst their in's. Callinan will add even more strength to their already strong on ball division and he is a gun player. Grima will hold down CHB and is rated very highly, this will allow Graham a more running free 3rd tall role in defence so I think they will definately be the team to beat along with the Eagles who as reigning premiers still look very strong.

Port have also recruited well again but the question mark is whether this years recruits will be like the 2006 recruits and all bail out, lose heart or give up by the half way mark again but they should be around the mark all being equal.

That's my prediction top 4, the rest could finish anywhere but most likely South in the mix along with Norwood. I think the bays will slip back - rucks are an issue plus no real CHB or dominant key fwd and they will really be hoping Willitts is available for most of the season to push for the 5. However anything could happen yet with all teams re injuries, luck, confidence etc etc.

P.S. I would be very disappointed if we didn't finish the minor round in the top 3.

You would be the kindest CEO going around if a TOP 3 finish is all you requested, on paper Norths are a stand out in talent, look at the bench and how deep the talent goes.

Look at Ports compared to Norths, the selected B side in this thread has no depth while Norths should be reserves favourites as well. Ports will be like last year, with a full squad a very good side on paper, a few injuries will see the same result as 2006, Norths have the depth to cover for some injuries.

BPBRB, you are the favourites at this early stage and have become the very much hunted, dont deflect away from the task ahead GRAND FINAL APPEARANCE NO LESS

That interchange bench would walk into Westies, Sturts & Norwoods teams. The Bays, Panthers & Ports could use a few of those players, Centrals & the Eagles would play some of these lads in their first 18.

Top 3 will do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont think it is North who have the side to fear this year.

FFS Dash - what do you want me and other North supporters to say! Again we are not the ones "pumping our tyres up" - it's people like you! We cop enough sh*t from others on these forums as it is with other always telling us we think we are better than we are, yet people like you are are still condesending when someone like me gives a frank and honest assessment - it is my opinion after all and apart from you I haven't seen too many that have disagreed with where I ranked/rated North?

As I inferred, we are still unproven and against Centrals and the Eagles based on the most recent past they are still ahead of us despite how good our list is and how much depth we have. We are marginally better off this year than in 2006 in terms of depth given the recruits wee picked up but injuries played a big part come finals time 2006 in not getting our anywhere near our best team on the park so there is still that to consider. Is that good enough for you???

Drebin all i want to happen is to get some rooster supporters pumping the chest out and making that statement we can hold them to later, we all know injuries will play a big part but the roosters depth goes a long way. Mark Ducker pumped his centrals chest out instead. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

We never have but according a lot on here we have, as I said in another thread others tend to pump up North more than North supporters.
We already get abused for being too cocky despite being modest about our sides chances so I'd hate to think of what sort of reception we'd cop if we actually did pump them up!
Just for the record I agree with BPRRPPPBPR and Dash.
I think the Eagles and Centrals start ahead of us in the betting stakes, they've been there, they've done that, they've performed on the big stage, we've achieved nothing, I repeat nothing.
BUT I will only be happy with a premiership in 2007.
If the coach doesn't achieve it this year I think it should be his last unless some unforeseen circs occur.
A lot of North supporters will be happy with a GF appearance, IMHO there's no use in getting there if you fail anyway.

If Norths were not to make the GF, who would have the power to remove ANJ.

He is a sponsors magnate, players in general love him (???Coaching ability not proven???) but it would be the biggest call in SANFL to remove hime from the steering wheel.

good on paper but............matches arent won on paper............the paper will tear to shreds in september again..............

I wish we had that side on the ground in September, nothing close to it.
(And the side we did have got withing 2 kicks of the premiers)
Hopefully the Doc with AFL credentials that Jars brought in this year might help alleviate that.
And having said that we do seem to have more depth each year with the speed at which we produce quality juniors should injuries strike.

When's a Bays supporter going to put together a side as opposed to just having a go at better clubs than their own? :?

because we havent finished our recruiting!!!!!!!!!

and our players tend to get played in positions they arent supposed to be

So tell us who the Bays are after - seems most "big names" have already been grabbed. I bet your answer is anybody!

As a South supporter from afar my lineup could be way off the mark but you should excuse me as I only get to see a handful of replayed Panthers games on ABC2 each season plus the odd live ones if I get the chance to catch a Boeing 737 across the Nullabor!
Perhaps some local fans with their finger more on the pulse can correct me where my selections/positionings are off the mark:-

F Thewlis Ellis Warren

HF Twomey Iljcsen Corey McGrath

C D Clarke Archard J Wright

HB Prendergast Bennett Handby

B McGlone Carlisle Hateley

Ruck Parry, Matty Smith, Kenna

Int: King, Sinkunis, McKay (mini draft recruit)

As a neutral observer, i'd say that Pendergast was recruited to play a key role in the forward line, basically to take over from Cupido. If i was to pick a South side, i'd probably have him at CHF, with Clarke on a HBF.
