I was told there was friction between board members and most votes on various issues centred on whether you were pro or con Wark and not what was in the clubs best interests. If true, its far from a healthy situation.

There's a bit of a friction on the Norwood Forum too over the reason(s) he left.

I wouldn't take any notice of that goose Drebin. He seems to appear for no other reason than to bag David Wark.

Apologies for delayed reply BP .. Warky was exceptionally communicative for a club which really had/has limited resources and was renowned for being extremely quiet/uncaring toward it's everyday member/supporter (unless you fit a certain profile for the inner sanctum) ... I think Warky (for the first time in my memory anyway) was the catalyst for removing these barriers and I hope his good work is continued into the future.

There is unfortunately an element of truth in G's post, something none of the supporters want to see at our club, so hopefully those at the top who have carried on this way can now operate in a manner befitting their position - "Club, first and only".

So he was pushed as some Norwood people are inferring? It seems from what people have told me (Wedgie and our club CEO) he was a very well respected hardworking GM/CEO so I must say I thought it was odd when he moved (or was moved) aside on Projects until he took this new job?

I probably should have added that my post was only my own personal thoughts, naturally others at the club might disagree .. Add this one to the list of "Things to dicuss at next North v Norwood game whilst having a beer"

Fair enough - your shout first unless it's that Cooper's Crap that people get excited about?

AFL Canberra General Manager Appointed

The AFL Canberra Board has moved quickly to appoint a new General Manager.

David Wark, formerly General Manager of the Norwood Football Club will commence duty as the General Manager of AFL Canberra Ltd on 19 February 2007.

The local competition will benefit from a new level of expertise based on Davids' practical experience backed by his MBA in International Sports Management.

He has strong marketing experience in the football world and is looking forward to creating new relationships for AFL Canberra with the business community and others. These skills were illustrated by the achievement of record numbers of membership, crowds numbers and income from sponsorships.

David has a consultative style and is looking forward to establishing good communication channels between AFL Canberra, its clubs, sponsors and other stakeholders. At Norwood, David made good use of modern technology to keep members and stakeholders informed of match day scores and other pertinent information.
