C31 Total SANFL - finished

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby Jimmy » Fri Feb 16, 2007 1:53 am

Bad luck CK. As someone said, maybe it will come back better than ever with less for you to do once they realise what they have done.

feel for ya :D

the less said about the ppl that made this decision the better...

unbelievable that all clubs couldnt put some money into this let alone the actual comp itself.

More than disappointng...

Disgraceful.

Twenty years from now, the SANFL will be a glorified bush league.

Unless the league and the clubs pull their collective heads out of their fat ar$es.

Thanks
Chris Kendall

I was listening when the initialed one said that (exact quote) "It's my understanding that the SANFL has already been pumping money into this program". As far as I was aware, that is not the case but maybe Chris or someone else would like to correct me on that one. If I am right, the thing that shits you is that the initialed one has broadcast that to all and sundry and people will take that as fact.
I'm sorry that it's come to this Chris and it is a shame because I know the SANFL spent more on those 'Rowey and Weed - back to the '70's' ads than what you would have needed for a budget for an entire season.

Exactly. =D> =D> =D>
Disgraceful decision, no merit, no interest in the SANFL comp being demonstrated.

Postby redden whites » Fri Feb 16, 2007 5:37 pm

I have missed less than half a dozen north games in the last 4 years and log on here everyday and had absolutley no idea that the show ever existed.
A story in itself maybe!

One suspects there would be some very interested people around if some of the figures of amounts the SANFL does provide in some areas of publicity/benefit/enhancement to them and the competition, were revealed publicly. There could be some quite red faces around with that one and it would make this decision all the more diffcult to comprehend. Suffice to say, you will probably never hear it direct from the league or clubs, but they are quite aware of where spending is directed and some amounts they have agreed to and approved are quite astonishing, when compared to the amounts asked for here.

What a joke!!

I really looked forward to watching this in the week.
I know a fair few mates who used to watch it too.
I cant believe they did not get funding for this.

Once again the local league get shafted by the $$$$$$'s.

Surely the Crows/Power could wash their jumpers at home for a few matches to get funding for this?

Shocking decision that will hurt in time.

Well done guys for the all the effort you did for the show. :(

The more you think about what goes on, the more depressed you get. Face it, nothing is going to change unless a number of us take over the SANFL.

The problem with the morons whom run the SANFL is that all they care about is how much money the Cows and Poof Power pump into their coffers. Sure the AFL is a real good money spinner but the people whom run the league don't care for the league. We need fresh faces in there not the same old Bozo's that were around with Uncle Doug and Grandfather Max Basher. Max Basher was great for the league in the 1980's but somehow that is how the people who now have control are running our great league. Atleast the people whom run the VFL have alot better idea's. We need more people like Damien Phillips Westies new CEO someone with an idea on change and how to improve the league.

Could not agree more, I think that between us we could name several candidates for the job who might bring back some passion for the game from SANFL headquarters.

Our own Chris Kendall would be one I would like to see given a go at the management level, nothing wrong with having someone genuinely passionate about the SANFL in the drivers seat. for a time.

Another name to consider might well be Andrew Jarman, many dont like his style, yet when he sets to a task he seems to throw everything into it with success. Maybe putting Jars into SANFL managment might be the shake up they need?

Now, I haven't put you down for your lateral thinking like others but its time for me to join the team, that's bloody ridiculous.

It seems fairly obvious to me that Andrew Jarman as coach is the best thing that has happened for North Adelaide since 1991?

I would have thought thats maybe putting the cart before the horse Soj ... I'd imagine there's some board & business people at Prospect who have probably made more significant contributions to the club in the scheme of things.

To all who have taken the time to post on this forum, contact me directly and, I understand in some cases, contacting clubs and/or the SANFL directly with their thoughts - my deepest thanks to all of you. I think it proves the level of passion in the SA Football Community for this show, and the number of people (including players, umpires and officials) who watched us each week. I can only hope it is sending a clear message to those who made the decision that it was the incorrect one, in the eyes of the fans.

Someone raised earlier on about an Adelaide radio personality stating, on air, "It's my understanding that the SANFL has already been pumping money into this program". I can, categorically and completely state that this is incorrect. Not since the original show, featuring McDermott/Wildy/Ebert in 2003 has the SANFL ever contributed anything financially toward C31 for any SANFL related productions. The person who said this on air needs to check their facts a lot more carefully before stating things such as this (I think the same person who raised this correctly joined the dots about other aspects of that station and issues relating to this situation), and I would happily appear on this station to discuss this on air.

What does make the decision more disappointing is the awareness that the Amateur League clubs all contribute financially to the "Grassroots" program that publicises their league, recognising the level of publicity that show does for them and stating their willingness to support it financially themselves.

Time will tell what transpires from all of this but believe me - your support and kindness in so many ways really has touched me deeply and is appreciated more than you would know.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...
