Money Grab / Charging at trial games????

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby firstblood » Fri Mar 23, 2007 8:26 am

As a Westies supporter myself, i don't mind paying $2 to see a game of footy.
As far as North are going, i say good luck to them and well done for providing footballs
for clubs that need them...Dash...don't be hard on clubs when they charge $2 to see
a trial game. Westies have been doing it for a couple of years. It helps all clubs in the
SANFL even if it is a small amount. Every club needs every dollar they can get.

Postby dash61 » Fri Mar 23, 2007 8:26 am

Looks as though norths are the only side that wants to make a profit out of trial games, good luck to them i say, hart sporn stribling & allan have to be paid some how (FAIR ENOUGH)

Punk read carefully, all we have to do is get of the bottom NO MORE, the expectations are on the financial machine NORTHS :D :D :D :D

$2.00, that works out to less than a quid eh! Season ticket to all NAFC matches and assorted goodies, $125 (Less than £60). I think that represents pertty good value to watch real footy. Not that sterile AvFL crap, that I am subjected too.

To watch a CCC league match will set you back $40 odd, and a season ticket $550 for the same number of games as an SANFL club. Personally I would be very happy to pay $2.00 to watch a trial game.

If you want to talk about greedy, try Lampards salary of $320k per week, and a Chelski match ticket of $125 (per game) $2.00, GREEDY, get real

In the seasons I played 17's & 19's (very early 90's) and runner for 19's ('03) there was no charge to enter, for anyone. Can't speak for the other seasons though.

DASH
NA were broke 4 years ago
They have turned it around with commonsense financial stratergies
I think other clubs should use the NA blueprint and emulate thier stratergies
Did you know it cost NA about $1000 to $1500 to play that trial v PA at Norwood oval.
The NA staff manned the Norwood Oval admission gates, and from all reports broke
close to even for fielding the trial.
I paid $2 towards thier costs without a shadow of apprehension.
I would pay $2 at any SANFL venue to see a trial.

DASH I barrack for NW you barrack for WA
We have both struggled in recent times
We are both jealous of the NA wealth stream which is attracting quality recruiting.
But give credit where its due, and NA deserve all the accolades

If people don't want too pay $2 then don't go. Most people would spend $20 on beer at the game so $2 not much to complain about.

Agree with Johntheclaret , went to a CCC match in February this year Norwich V Leeds. Ticket at the gate 25 pounds = $62.50

Went to a conference league match , which is like A1 Amateurs - 12 pound = $30.00

Sport in Australia is so much more accessable to the average punter, shit if you are desperate you could go to a Pawa game for an average of $14 a match if you buy the cheapest season ticket. Eagles season ticket works out to $4.50 if you attend every game.

Plus football and other sports on free to air tv here. Forget about it in the UK. Although i do like how they show the horse racing in th UK on free to air , but for Soccer other than the FA cup rounds your dreaming.

$2 = good value
If at first you don't succeed , then destroy all evidence that you tried in the first place

Trial games have been charged for as long as I've been going to them since the 80s.
Now if a club that hadn't won a premiership for over 20 years managed to find a way to break the salary cap when coming bottom and charge for entrance to a trial game then that would be a disgrace!
Plus there's a free day at Prospect the following day where there will be face painting, jumpy castles, photos with players, etc, someone has to pay for the makeup and hire of a jumpy castle. might as well as be Bays fans!

Nothing wrong with charging $2 for a game of footy. As for charging $2 to view the premiership cup at prospect, i'd gladly pay that!
I'm not sure why you are having a go at North (we are SA's richest club now) when i paid $2 to get into Richmond last year to see West and North in a trial. It is a pathetic sook of a thread.

Then I look forward to a lager tomorrow. There is sure to be a lot less of a crowd, for obvious reasons.

Dash, it seems that whenever an opportunity arises for you to stab North in the back or to try and deflect some pressure on their playing stocks, you come to the fore! In this day and age who gives a stuff about $2 and guess what, if it upsets you, stay away. The way you try and stir North and Jarman at times would make one think you have a personal issue with either or both. Just a passing observation.

Disagree with that, I'd go watch trial games any day if I didn't have something on, sure as hell wouldn't bother for training.
