You dont think anyone outside your list doesnt know anything about SANFL Football.

Bugger me, there are plenty of people out there that know the league but havnt got the look in the door that people like you did a couple of years ago.

Do I bow now?

Yup there are. And Ben Hook isn't one of them.

OK RM,

Fine, maybe I'm a bit biased, put it down to me still being in shock at the development.

Yes I was lucky to get a foot in the door at the time and I hope I have never taken my opportunity for granted.

But back to the point.
I also missed Michael Maney and Damian Squire

So you take out everyone involved with
- RPH
- Life Fm
- The Advertiser
- ABC TV
that was involved

Are these not the four main media outlets that give SANFL Regular coverage ie go to the games each week ?

He was runner for Norwood a couple of years ago wasn't he? Would suggest he would have a fair idea on the SANFL and local sport in general.

Phil....Do you know how many of these fought the battle with Chris to keep the show? Just interested as I get the feeling Chris was battling on his own.....also Im suprised that the footy clubs arent aware fo the new show, presuming you heard the news here first

I guess at the end of the day business is business and it will good to have a show, as long as the quality is there

Okay...

Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to voice their thoughts on this - whether they be good, bad, positive or otherwise. It's encouraging to know the passion for SANFL burns brighter than ever. As I said in my original post, I hope the new production wins support from fans also and Dutchy is correct - as long as the quality is there, then hopefully the audience for SANFL will grow with this.
The calibre of those involved in 2006 should never be questioned, RM, as all hold roles in the SANFL media of some degree that is testament to their credibility. Naturally, they were not everyone involved in the SANFL media, and no doubt there will be others that will crop up on the new show, but I was very fortunate to have had so many passionate people working with me on last year's show.
Hopefully it won't be the last that I do in local media. I am looking forward immensely to doing more with 5RPH, continuing the Sportsbeat column and one or two other things that will become clearer in time. I'm looking forward to catching up with many of you at the games (will be on Coopers Hill where I can!) and enjoying the SANFL.
ORD - thank you very much for your thoughts too with our shared situation. Times can be very hard with these sorts of things, but hopefully emerge stronger with it.

Dutchy

Re support of Chris in his proposal ... All those involved in 2006 had the opportunity to put in a personal contribution to the proposal sent to the SANFL.
I put in a personal testimonal to support Chris's document & I was not alone.

Fair enough...but was enough work done trying to get private investors?

CK wrote:I can confirm that a new SANFL show will start on C31 shortly, after a sponsor came up with the necessary funding. I found this also in the TV book yesterday and was as surprised as many. After ringing the station manager, I was advised that the sponsor has made the funding on the proviso that no personnel from last years show be involved (apart from the new host, who appeared on two shows in 2006). I had always hoped that, after working for 4 years to get this show running, on a voluntary basis with limited support, that any decision for my involvement to cease would be on my terms, but this decision has been taken out of my hands. I had also hoped to find this out by means other than reading it in a TV book. Other issues in my life over the past few weeks have compounded my feelings on this issue.

I'd like to thank all of you for the support of "Total SANFL" in 2006, and hope this new show wins support from fans. This is effectively my last statement as a C31 person, as my involvement with that body ceases immediately.

Know how you feel.

Not suprised at how it was handled by C31, as I alluded to a few weeks ago I was pretty confident the main issues were with C31 and not with the SANFL, looks like I've been proven right.
Chris, In rotten the way they screwed you, very unprofessional. Im sure they should/could have kept you on in some capacity.
On the upside we do have a show and at a much better time IMHO.
And Ben Hook will be a fantastic host, I met him last year and he sure as hell does know his SANFL and is a great sporsman in his own right, he quite often manages to sneak a small SANFL story into his Sunday Mail column although the big wigs wouldn't like it.
From what Ive seen of him in person and on the show last year he comes across as very professional and has great personality, Im sure it will be a great show.

My only guess about the possible sponsor and their involvment (if we believe what C31 told Chris) is that maybe it was the paper since Ben works there?

On a similar note, North were quite willing to sponsor a dedicated spot on 5AA (through Grand North and the Northern Tavern) to discuss all SANFL clubs/happenins with either Andrew or Darren Jarman each week, Cornsey didn't like the idea so it got the arse. 5AA marketing even had the cheek to ring North a bit later saying they'd hear they're interested in sponsoring the station, North told them to stick it where the sun don't shine.
