I'm originally from a soccer background (being a pom). Occasionally I will take a sanfl 'virgin' along to a blues game. Some come back, a few become regulars. My point is almost without exception (usually during the 1st quater) the virgin will turn and say 'who the &#$@ is that' :shock: usually followed by '+^!( I like the way he plays' :)

Central do a nice line in cult heroes - Sally Saywell, Wilbur Wilson and R-u-d-i Mandemaker are three of the best ever.

Ray Hayes was a good call - The Golden Elbow.

At Woodville - Buff, Ralph and Big Max were extremely popular players. Trevor Pierson was also much loved while he was there - anyone who can kick 100 goals in a 1-win season IS going to be popular.

Two-Eight: John Wynne. A real character.

Flash Graham had a big following at Sturt.

In the media, there was one cult hero who stood above all others - WALLY MAY!
