Ware has a lot to prove as far as I'm concerned. Needs to be more consistent and get more ball. Finishing could improve a touch as well. Could be AFL standard if he puts it all together, but sadly has probably burned the last chance he'll get.
Agree with that Graham, his best is scintillating but his worst is soft - only acceptable because O'Sullivan, Gowans x 2 et al play tough footy at all times.

Absolutely. I don't think he's as "soft" as he appears, though. I'm sure he deliberately doesn't go in not because he's soft, but because he's instructed to let those guys you mentioned do their job, and then finish off with his skills and pace. I would like to see him step up the hard ball gets to prove himself though. Could be important when the Gowans move on.

Also interesting to note Steinberner no longer gets a mention on the list. Recommend adding him and leaving it as "indefinite". I don't think he will ever play again, but news I hear is he wants to play next year. Would be the best comeback since Lazarus if he manages to get back into the league team as a regular.

I hear Steiny is not giving up just yet Graham, very determined bloke.

I have no doubt that some of Ware's 'holding back' is instructed, but he does look scared at times which certainly gives the opposition a foot in the door. Planning for no Gowans is underway and the transition will be almost seamless from what I understand in terms of on-field power. Their character is irreplacable.

Will be a sad day when they leave. Alan Stewart might have helped the club to the forefront off the field, Roy Laird might have built the dynasty but the Gowans turned us unto winners as far as I'm concerned. However, it will be great when we continue to win after they and Matt Slade give it away. Some still think they're the only reason we win still.

From watching plenty of Eagles vs Central games over the last few years - I think your success much of the time has been due to these guys that hang out. So many times there have been hard in close contests with numbers around the ball and then all of a sudden one of the in and under players would push it out and your team was intelligent enough to have a player such as Ware ready to run. The Eagles, on the other hand, were still battling to get the ball forward because all our players were at the contest and trying to break tackles. Hence why Luke Jarrad was such a great pick up. Don't underestimate the value of a clever, quick and skillful outside player to a team that has plenty of hard in and under players, which both Central and the Eagles do have. Of course, when any player needs to go in hard he's got to go in hard.

The Blues are on the right track I am sure of it.

15 minutes of football when North went to sleep, content that it was all over, is not matching it for a half. It took us about 5 minutes to get the lead back to safe despite your 5 goal burst and cruised home in 2nd gear to win by 46 points. You should have lost by 12 goals minimum in all reality.

I will try to keep this forum updated with scores from the Central v Port game. Will try and get text messages from my mates every ten to fifteen minutes which I will place up here if someone opens up a thread for it.

Elstones hammy must have been pretty bad, it happened in the PA v CD trial game, about 9 weeks ago.

The ABC coverage is done in fairness of all 9 teams to give each team a fair go. The Eagles have only had the ANZAC game covered tis year which is the norm anyway. It will be the first staurday game the Eags have had covered. I don't think anyone can possibly complain about that. Besides that Eagles v Sturt are normally crackerjack contests.

seen the incident relating to Johncock and as a neutral supporter I can honestly say there was nothing untoward there. Corageous effort by the young fella to come back on and play out the remainder of game.

This is a bit rough! Its a team game and we have enough at the bottom of the pack. Ware's job is to be a ball carrier. I haven't seen the stats but he would be one of our top into the 50 deliverers. His pace and skill are exceptional and is gets better with experience.
We used to be good :-(

Ask Norwood fans whether they think the allocation of ABC games is fair.

Dunno about that, it was just a wrenched knee, he didn't do any ligament damage to my knowledge.

From nafc.com.au - Weatherley has a grade 3 medial ligament strain and will be out from between 5 to 8 weeks. Bad luck to the big fella after missing more than half of last year with an ankle injury.

The lack of recruiting another tall fwd (and defender for that matter!) coupled with letting Hargs and McEntee go might haunt us if Gill doesn't play at North for the next 8 or 9 weeks. Not much in the Ressies as Michael Wundke has just come back from injury and I'm not sure he is tall or big enough for the League FF spot?

i dont think he said 'for a half' he said 'IN the second half'. Bit of a difference there. 8)

Simply tho, North were too good on the day and we have plenty of work to go to get back to playing good footy.

Ha, ha.... I knew as soon as I hit the 'submit' button on that particular post that my ol' mate Drebin would take me to task.

Obviously we did only play 15 mins of good footy but the point I was making, quite clearly too but here it is again for those in the cheap seats, is in a similar situation last year Sturt would have completely dropped their bundle and lost by 12+. That we didn't and showed some real quality, albeit for a short period, is most encouraging and a real positive to take out of an ordinary day.

Even Jar's himself offered a compliment post match, suggersting we were worthy opponents who would cause sides some grief in the 'second half of the year'.

Cheers Andrew Newton but I would like to think we will stir a few sides up much sooner than that, starting with the Eags this Saturday.

Go Blues!
