I expect there's a policy in place regarding how many of the finalists from last season you play. For example it would be pretty rough for West to play Port, Central, Eagles and North 3 times while Glenelg got to play Sturt, South and Norwood twice. The AFL has a rule like that so the SANFl probably does as well.

Would like to know if anyone can come up with an alternate fixture list that doesn't have someweird events like described occuring.
Yes I have.Simple have every team play each other 3 times and that will fix the problem once and for all.

That would be 24 matches plus byes - a pretty long season.

Any other teams doing the same? Obviously Sturt are one.

Eagles play South again this week for the 2nd time this season and we're yet to play either Norwood or North Adelaide yet. The SANFL really have to review the way they programme the season because the way it is currently is a joke.

What are you complaining about! North has had 2 byes in the first 7 rounds and this week plays Centrals for the second time before playing Port, Eagles or Glenelg once???
