If they are the fittest team, then how did Central manage to kick 11 goals to 1 in the last 1/4 at the Parade in a game that was very even up until 3/4 time?

Exactly. Also at the Parade a while back North only had 19 players all night and we were still able to run over the top of them.

You guys probably sell yourself a bit short with that example ... In both cases I think Central and North were just simply too good, I don't think it was fitness that cost Norwood either of those two.

Don't agree CP. When two sides have been close for 3 quarters and then one blows the game away I think fitness has a lot to do with it. I thought that was the difference between North & the dogs a few weeks back (the dogs were helped by an injury to a North running player but it still came down to run in the legs at the end of the day).

Norwood are the only team that I know of that were doing hard preseason running right up to the week before the first game....they were always going to sturggle the first few weeks of the year as they hadnt tapered off....its this time of year that they will reap the benefits of that strategy

I think fitness CAN have a lot to do with it, but don't believe it was the case in the Nwd v Central game ... Central were simply irrepressable in that final quarter and once they had their backs up they were unstoppable ... I also think Central apply as much mental pressure as physical when they're on song and that was evident once they were at their lethal best.

In the game against North, Norwood did plenty of attacking in that final quarter however we just weren't able to penetrate Norths resolute defence, to me, thats being outplayed.

Agree with points of view from both sides, but I think CP has summed it up well.
If you want an example of fitness being the difference, refer the result (particularly the last quarter) from Prospect Oval, Round 1, 2003...

I agree with most of the posts re this topic and the bottom line is for Dutchy not to make sweeping statements when he would have no idea of all the clubs and I repeat, all of the clubs pre season work.
Sure they may be fit or even the fittest side but facts dont back you up.

On paper Norwood are as good as any going around and now they have some confidence I think the other teams should look out. Finals are likely and we can do some real damage too.
Long way to go but after a poor start we are improving rapidly and playing direct football for the first time in ages. I also think we will get a lot better too but will be without Massie soon and probably Campbell as well.
The thing that seperates Centrals from the pack is confidence and belief bordering on arrogance.

What a great even competition though ! I dont regard any team as easy to beat.

Dutchy, opinion is fine and you may be correct re- Legs fitness but my beef is making sweeping statements like you're some fitness guru with inside info on all clubs. No need to grandstand like on most of your posts.
I wouldnt spruik about footy tips if I were you as its taken you 11 weeks to finally get in the black with your bets. :butthead: :butthead:

From over here in Victoria I wouldn't know how fit any of them are, but I couldn't resist trying to get this jigsaw puzzle out and make it fit. Is everything in the right place now??

Couldnt help but notice Dutchy, that for a footy wizard you are slaying them in the local footy tips. Surely they've got it wrong because no-one with footy credibility would be on only 14 wins. :butthead:

Psyber, it seems like you know as much as Dutchy would about the fitness of various sides even though he knows a player from the Legs. Gee I wish I knew someone connected to a league club so I could get scoops on footy matters like Dutchy

Let me guess you ended up eating that boil.

I love how Norwood make the top three for the first time in five years and you legs fans need a centrals fan to vindicate your achievements.
God I love Centrals being the powerhouse of this comp.

BTW the powerhouse will let you know when they are impressed not the other way around. Until then ill revert you to the chant that echoed around a vacant norwood oval a few fridays ago.
"10 years and youve won stuff all , 10 years and youve won stuff all".
Centrals 16.11 107 North 5.12 42 the dynasty continues .

Norwood have done very well so far.

When they played us earlier in the year @ Unley it is the only game so far this season I thought before the game that we should win this easily.

How wrong I was - smashed us by 50 points on a day that should of been the total score.

Motto of the story never be to cocky !!!
