A really interesting game to watch. Central did the right things where it counted, but South also had some excellent moments without luck at times. The Dogs tried to create space, but South shut down a lot of their run with close checking. Having said that, would almost certainly expect Callinan to get the 3 MM votes - outstanding run and creativity all day. O'Sullivan also excellent, but "Buckets" Mackenzie was brilliant throughout in ruck - worked really hard all around. C. Gowans's 3rd term great with the 3 goals, but it was no walk in the park for them. They mainly had the numbers front and centre at the packs when it counted.

South missed some gettable ones at unfortunate times - Bennett twice within 15m, Maddox into an open goal and spraying, but they tried really hard to create. Brett King worked hard in ruck and around the ground, and despite Buckets' game, he was also high in Souths's best. Kenna gave plenty of zip, Prendergast worked his heart out down back; Bennett could have had a huge influence with straighter kicking, and Clarke among the best for both teams. Carlile must really be close to an AFL game - quite why he hasn't had one yet is staggering. So much run and creativity back there, and runs through the middle also with 1%er's.

Very bewildering decision on the cusp of 3/4 time that really hurt the Panthers. A Central player took a mark deep in defence and went to play on, took a number of steps and caught well, then when trying to slip the tackle, taken high. Ump paid high, whereas the first decision really had to be holding the ball, IMHO. It caused a fair bit of justifiable dissent in the crowd.

An entertaining match (although one of the coldest in living memory!) - South really aren't far off causing some real damage, but just some decision making at crucial times can hurt. Central below their best, but then again, South played well on them. Plenty to like about the Dogs though.

It doesnt matter if he was trying to slip the tackle, if he gets caught high then its a free kick for a high tackle. If the tackle was fair then yes it would have been holding the ball. It is the same if a player dives on the ball and drags it back in, if he gets caught high its a free kick for a high tackle.

Nice second half from the dogs, were destroyed in the first half by south and umpires.

Great second half chant from the very clever dogs fans in the last half for every goal that was simply "BBBEEEEPP"

god the south fans hated it.

Disappointing result really.I thought our first half was excellent but we blew many easy chances for goals throughout the game. I agree with you ck re; the holding the ball non decision on 3/4 time, but you've got to expect that with dick williams umpiring. Fair dinkum is this bloke even interested in what hes doing. I saw him many times today when he was positioned behind the play, just gazing into space....

I'm still trying to defrost hehe (but freezing is part of the Noarlunga experience).

The first half was frustrating, but late in the 2nd quarter Centrals were starting to get back into it, and were only down by 10 points at half time (it deserved to be alot more). The second half was fantastic, especially how we outscored South in the last quarter kicking into the hurricane. It even started to drizzle lightly, giving everyone the true Noarlunga experience lol.

One tongue-in-cheek renovation suggestion - in the stand, put a couple of powerpoints under the seats so we can bring our electric blankets to sit on

All up, had a great afternoon out.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Entertaining yet extremely frustrating day at the footy.

You could tell within 5 minutes that we were switched on today. really, we should have been 3-4 goals up at half time imo. Second half very disappointing, and as already mentioned, we blew countless opportunities (bennox2, maddox, kenna come to mind) and it should have been holding the ball on 3/4 time from where i was standing :?

Smith was very good, Prendergast probably had his best game for the club, Mcglone kept running all day. Most guys did bits and pieces through the day.

We really need a target up forward though. I'd persist with either warren or ellis for 2 or 3 weeks.

Dogs won the ressies by a goal.
