Rubbish.I know the SANFL own the licenses, but if Port or Adelaide said "JUMP" the SANFL would scream "HOW HIGH",they (the SANFL) have Port and Adelaide as their number 1 priority,no doubt. The 9 SANFL clubs hold no power (no pun intendid) over the two AFL clubs in Adelaide.

This thread is rubbish, whoever said it,I agree. In no way is this Choko giving the SANFL crap,he is choosing to do what he thinks is best for his players.Simple.

Yep, agree with Booney.. Having just read the article in the Tiser I think Chocco's reasons for holding players back are completely justified.

I agree with Booney. The SANFL may own the licence but anyone who thinks that the Crows and Power don’t have priority over the SANFL clubs is deluded.

just had a look at the VFL teams for this week some players that played AFL last week are allowed to play this week

Bendigo Bombers / Essendon

Jay Nash
Chris Heffernan

Northern Bullants / Carlton

Luke Blackwell

Werribee / Western Bulldogs

Malcolm Lynch

why is it ok for AFL players that played last week to play in the VFL this week but no ok for the AFL listed SANFL players to play

I think AFL clubs have to request if players that play AFL one week can play in the lower league during that bye week. I think the AFL can say yay or nay.

Im pretty sure thats how it works.

but surely the sides that have the bye should have to submit phantom sides to allow these players to play not just simply say that they need a rest as its open to abuse

The current system is not working, that I agree with. What it means is that an AFL listed player is allocted to an SANFL club and wears their colours, yet by the system can not give 100% to the colours of the club, which is not in any way acceptable.

The soloution is to make a rule that AFL listed players can only participate in the SANFL reserves competition. The question is the weighing up the pros and cons of both, the AFL listed players bring a high skill level to the game and people like seeing them play, yet my feeling is that if at the end of the day a player cannot give the club 100% then the clubs suffers as a result. Agreeing to that and mid season trading does make the SANFL look pretty ordinary.

I formerly barracked for Geelong in the VFL, yet like most people went for the Crows when they began, yet after seeing the poor fashion that I feel that the AFL clubs and some of the players treat the SANFL, it was from there that I made my decision to take back up with Geelong. If a few more passionate SANFL members do the same thing as a response, that could have more of a positive effect for change than anything else.

I am tipping that if you ask most Crows supporters who they barracked for prior to the Crows in the VFL-AFL they are going to give you a similar answer!

Yeah, but they'd be the same people who like going to movies as opposed to being fair dinkum died in the wool real football supporters.

PS Mrs Wedgie is one, although she had no interest in the VFL/AFL before the Crows, mind you she was originally a Bays fan. For some reason some clubs seem to be impacted on by the Crows more than other clubs, North's fans reamin pretty loyal as do the Dogs fans. Eagles, Bays and to a lesser degree Norwood supporters are the opposite. Sturt supporters are pretty consistent in that they go when they're winning and don't when they're losing!

So why is Adam Thomson playing tonight? Is Williams saying he's no chance to play in their next match?

i guess it was better for Willits and Logan to miss out on an opportunity to play SANFL finals and lay in a hospital bed, surely an opportunity like that would have been good for there development
