The current system is not working, that I agree with. What it means is that an AFL listed player is allocted to an SANFL club and wears their colours, yet by the system can not give 100% to the colours of the club, which is not in any way acceptable.
The soloution is to make a rule that AFL listed players can only participate in the SANFL reserves competition. The question is the weighing up the pros and cons of both, the AFL listed players bring a high skill level to the game and people like seeing them play, yet my feeling is that if at the end of the day a player cannot give the club 100% then the clubs suffers as a result. Agreeing to that and mid season trading does make the SANFL look pretty ordinary.
I formerly barracked for Geelong in the VFL, yet like most people went for the Crows when they began, yet after seeing the poor fashion that I feel that the AFL clubs and some of the players treat the SANFL, it was from there that I made my decision to take back up with Geelong. If a few more passionate SANFL members do the same thing as a response, that could have more of a positive effect for change than anything else.
