SANFL needs to reconsider night footy in June

Apparently the oval is not in great condition but it is no worse than many ovals have been over the years. Can remember one game at Norwood Oval where basically the game was played in puddles rather than on grass. Resembled a swimming pool.

Cheers.

I agree with this comment, though - it was my understanding that we wanted early and late season night games at Elizabeth, to avoid the crispy dewey winter nights. It takes some of the skill away from the game, slippery conditions.

Footy is a winter sport - but it was always designed for daytime, not nightime.

Will agree with you on the stupidity of night football in June. However, I think that the SANFL wanted to 'cash in' on no AwFuL games this weekend by having matches at four different times - Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night and Sunday.

Goal to Jarrad after a sensational mark.

It was his hammy was it? I hope so. If it was/is his knee again I'm fearful his career might be over.

I was surprised at how reasonable the ground looked given what we've heard about it in recent weeks. Unlike other grounds, the umpire could bounce the ball in most parts of the ground. Wasn't the best surface I've seen, but better than what Unley was like in 2004, or Adelaide Oval before the drainage work, and no muddy cricket pitches in the middle of the ground.

Night footy at Elizabeth is great, night footy in June not so great.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Went to a sturt v port night game at adelaide oval about 3 years ago and the ground was a disgrace in June.

Now if Adelaide Oval can't handle June night matches what chance has any other suburban ground got?
It's not Centrals fault, just a fact that June and July night matches should be kept to a minimum if not left out all together.
