It's his first big game for Port, but I too was surprised North did not want him at the end of last season, too. A very handy pick up.

North don't have off days, North have "mentally insipid" days all the time when a bit of pressure occurs. (feel free to call it choking, soft, etc, same thing)
On top of that the Maggies played great today, probably didn't lose a possie on the whole ground.

The rest of the comp must be stoked that after we ran Glenelg back into form that we've now done the same for Port. :?

i believe you and BP would disagree, because he seems to think that north had an off day against glenelg.......

thanks for putting port back in the fight for the 5!!!!!!!!!!!

North did have an "off day" against Glenelg, they also had another yesterday.
Norths best is good enough to get them to a GF, their worst makes them look like spooners. Port played fantastic footy today, but they were made to look much better by a side that was not switched on from the opening bounce.

BPBRB stated to me at the Bay that North we're "soft" that day - poor attitude - call it an off day / soft whatever but he basically said the same as what Wedgie said above.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

We were soft against Glenelg and not switched on and the same against Port - not taking anything away from either side who won but both games were suprises in terms of who started favourite in both games which was North. As Ian said our best is good enough to challenge anyone but we don't show it consistently and we are mentally soft at times and that will cost us against teams who have exposed our ability to cope with the physicality at times.

We also have a couple of high profile players currently who are front runners and do not work hard enough when the side needs them to! It is all about attitude but too many at North more often than not have the wrong attitude and perception about themselves when we need them to stand up!

Hey Wedgie - looks like you suffered/enjoyed the same emotions as I did back in 1985 when Rick Davies kicked 9 goals for South against Sturt just a few weeks after leaving Sturt back in 1985 - you find yourself clapping the goals but also wondering why isn't this heroic player still at my club? Funnily enough I was more upset with the Rick Davies retirement in 1986 when he kicked 8 goals for South against Torrens at Thebarton in his last match. I remember thinking if ever a player deserved a 15000+ sendoff crowd at Unley oval for his last game - Rick was the one.

Hargs is just one of many poor recruiting / delisting decisions Jarman has made in his time as coach.
Consider delistings Hargraves, Grooke, Gum,
Expensive recruits Ohara,
It must be hard to take a bloke seriously when he is so far into himself and his clown act.
If they dont make the GF this year then he must be considered a failure with the money they have spent on recruiting.

Yes we applauded all of Hargie's goals yesterday and were thrilled for him. We were hoping he'd kick a bagfull and that all of the wharfies goals would be his. But we were supposed to win on top of that.

I would like to congratulate big Hargy on a wonderful performance yesterday, it must be very satisfying for him.

Consider delistings Hargraves, Grocke, Gum,

Hargraves- moved on for disciplinary reasons/age factor (ANJ's call)
Grocke- moved on due to being about 5th in line for the CHF "Throne" (not ANJ's call)
Gum- allegedly did not want to work his way into the NAFC, after a year away, chose the "soft" option of playing with a (then) struggling club (not ANJ's call)

I think you'll find ANJ dropped the clown act a long time go- get over it.
Not making the GF- yes, I would consider that a wasted year.
As for money, it's not been splashed around like most would have you believe- where have all the high-priced recruits gone?
Not North Adelaide (Prendergast- South, LeCras- Port etc...)

Spoken by someone who has no clue and you call Jars a clown? Stick to tarot cards you idiot and next time try and at least get the spelling of their names right seeing as you profess to know so much!

Well summed up Punk and spot on!

If you dont consider the clown image is prevalent in his weekly news reports then maybe you need to see him on tv more often.

Yes, how dare you spell something wrong on these boards - the last bastion of the queen's english.

Jars still puts that clown act on for Ch 10 too. I really wonder if anyone other than himself finds it amusing.

Jars would be getting paid to be, as some have described it, a "clown act", not a boring, serious football analyser. There are more than enough colourless unentertaining (not sure that is a word) football presenters covering the AFL already. I'm sure he doesn't care if people find him funny or not, as long as he gets paid. I see nothing wrong with him doing this, I'm sure our club is not paying him massive amounts of money to coach that he will be able to live off for the rest of his life, so he needs to take full advantage of his 'popularity' and get whatever he can out of it. As for him clowling around as a coach, it seems like people are suggesting he does juggling and circus acts instead of coaching. :?
