he didnt really have a lot to work with did he?

heard Doug Robertson say the players are all comitted to playing for him and respect him etc.....

so maybe if they had of recruited properly they may be in a better situation......
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

I wouldent be opposed to South interviewing him and getting his thoughts on what the Panthers need to do to become competitive, if he could put forward a reasonable plan I wouldent be opposed to him being offered a contract for 2008, he could hardly do any worse and may well add a few things to the club if he is given a list that he can work with.

You need the cattle to be a successful coach Mickyj. I would say if he had of been coaching at the Eagles over the last couple of seasons with the squad we've got his win/loss ratio would be looking very different right now. Westies have just made a very big mistake.

I think the club not going through due process when he was appointed may well have a bit to do with it.

Look at Carlton they put Pagan in and knew they would see little to no on field success for a number of years, but they went through due process, they interviewed other potential coaches and publicly put full support behind him even when they were failing miserably.

Maybe if this was Weeds first year at the helm and he had been the man appointed by the new Administration it could be a whole different story.

With Damien and Co. at the helm now I would expect a very professional plan of attack and they will do everything they can to get the best coach available that they feel will stay to build the club.

It is going to be a very interesting few months to see what happens.

Be interesting to see if the players can lift for Weed now that they have probably been the biggest factor in his dismissal, eg through lack of commitment on occasion.

I hope Weed gets another chance somewhere, he deserves it for all his hard work even though we lacked results.

Not at all, I think that with the right cattle the Weed would do well. I dont think that the problems at Westies are the fault of the current coach, I think it goes back further than that to the recruiting and skills training in years gone by.

As an opposition supporter, I would be happy to see Weidemann coaching South next year...

I'm not sure he has what it takes to coach a league club. Having said that, I'd have him as an assistant at the Eagles and perhaps in the future he will be a better coach for having gone through this experience. If that is what he wants to do.

No doubt this will provide all the impetus needed by the Bloods' league team to put in a 4-quarter effort and decisively win this week's match against ... umm... oh, hang on...

Bloody West Adelaide couldn't even get the timing right

Now how about Tony Burgess as a replacement?

People seem to forget 'Macca' took Norwood to a preliminary final in his first season at the helm (2002) before losing to eventual Premier, Sturt.

His minor round record that year was 15-5 (from memory) and included two victories over Central District, including one at Elizabeth.

Plenty of experts on here of course CP.

I think the record might have even been better than that? (Spelly?)

In the years to follow he lost somewhere between 10-20 senior regulars to retirement and the $$ lure of amateur leagues ... He was never afforded the $$ to purchase top flight players from interstate and thus threw all his energies into the kids, many of which are still at the club and look to have a future.

Anyway good luck to the Weed, he is a champion bloke and I hope he finishes the season out well with Westies and gets another opportunity to coach at league level again somewhere down the track.

I wouldn't be surprised if Macca is approached to coach Westies next year (and NO, this isn't an official statement)

Interesting thought there EHL and seeing I followed him as a player firstly at West Torrens, Crows and WWT .I would have enjoyed seeing him at Woodville oval .The question needs to be asked could he do the job that A Rodgers is doing at Woodville .With a team full of 16 yo's(well they looked that age against Westies ) to work with. Not sure if he could or couldn't.

There seems to be two thoughts on Cattle on the field in modern football.Don't some Coaches Coach to a plan/System that doesn't require big name players just as long as they play to the system .
Having said that the game against WWT Westies league team were woeful and if it had been WWT playing like Westies did, I would have thought that someones head was about to roll.
